Hey folks - I recently moved here and am now settled enough to get out and get some shooting time. As I have no clue about what's in the area, anyone have any suggestions for outdoor locations to go shooting? I'm near the Centennial Airport, and aside from the range at Cherry Creek, I haven't found anywhere yet that will accomodate both hangun and rifle. Thanks!!

If you know someone who belongs to a "local" gun club, that would be easiest. To my knowledge, Aurora Gun Club out east in Aurora, is closest to Centennial Airport. Next might be Ben Lemond outinElbert County. Other options are to find an open space on our local National Forest lands, following the rules. Closest to the south side of town might be out west of Castle Rock in the South Platte Ranger District of the Pike & San Isabel National Forest. There is a sizeable shooting restricted area on the east side of the Forest closest to Castle Rock to be aware of.

Here are some useful links:

Any National Forest: (Arapaho or Roosevelt), or the Pawnee National Grass Lands. You can shoot there but check the law and the local rules. And then check again.

If you are willing to go about an hour north to Weld County, the Pawnee Sportsman's Club, has a 250 yard outdoor rifle range along with pistol and shotgun.

Welcome!
