I'm wondering if school zone signs in San Diego countyare placed 1000 ft from the school, of do they just put them anywhere handy to the school. Also, is it 1000 ft from the school property line or from the actual school building? I need to know this because I intend to get a surveyor tape and a spay can of paint and measure off the distances from the school to the streets in my neighgorhood.

1. School signs mean nothing in relation to 626.9
2. Measure from the property line
3. I'd make sure it's not illegal to spray paint on the street, especially since you posted here that you plan to do it.

Ahh, but the panic it causes as the powers that be try and figure who this new
UOC gang is and how they took over so much territory overnight. The press
conferences about how the school children seem to be safe from them though
would be priceless.

Or use a handheld GPS receiver and walk the 1,000 feet. My WAAS-enabled Garmin eTrex is accurate to within 3 feet most of the time.

This is kind of an old thread, but I have it figured out. LOCK IT UP TILL YOU GET TO YOUR DESTINATION.

I don't have a GPS. I'm from the old school. I use maps.

If anyone here lives at exacly 1,000 ft.from a school, would you place a sign on your front yard, stating that. UOC OK beyond this point or something like that.

No someone inside the 1000 ft put up a sign
"Private Property Rights: Inside school zone carry OK between the signs."
Although the dancing banana will take some doing.:celebrate
