It IS time for the next VOTING revolution. Every incumbant needs to be replaced. Doesn't matter what party they represent. Vote em all out. Send D.C. a message and remind them of who their master is.

The only (peaceful) way to win is to let them know that we hold the keys to their future employment.

With regard to whether that story is true? I can't find anything to counter the House Ways and Means Chairman, but I can say that he'd have the Dems up in arms screaming about misinformation if he was spreading a lie. I don't hear a counter story...

This is just one small cog in the wheel of the changemachine that gotelected a year ago.

You can't use a broken system to fix the broken system. There is only one solution left us; the same solution that Jefferson, Madison, Washington, Adams, Henry, Franklin and the rest of them settled on.

I asked myself the very same question when I saw the title of the thread. Then I saw the poster. And it all became clear........while something to be concerned with, this is not the venue for such discussion.

This came in an email:

FORGET BEING DEMOCRAT or REPUBLICAN

Wright for +20 years i.e. how he was participating with this man, and not for the reasons he states!

Democrat or Republican, this report will open your eyes to how YOUR country is being sold down the road to Totalitarian Socialism. If you care about the direction of our country, pass this notice on to everyone you know...

Universal healthcare is not something to start a violent revolution over. It doesn't technically violate the terms of the Constitution or the bill of rights.

Our elected officials' votes count as representing the people, and the only thing that requires a popular vote is an amendment to the Constitution, which they do not need to make to get national healthcare.

On the other hand, I feel dirty just watching the ads they have on TV in support of it - they're just dripping with PR spin and you can almost hear all the facts they AREN'T mentioning.

What can we do about it? NOTHING. We voted and we weren't enough, because the vast majority of Americans are swayed by whatever ads they see on TV. Don't bother talking about protests - it's been done before, with absolutely no effect other than a little media coverage. People look shocked about all the crazy people in the streets, maybe talk about it at the watercooler, and then everything goes back to normal the next day.

We're eventually going to have to face the fact that our country is going to hell in a handbasket and, if we respect the Constitution, we have to let it happen. Eventually there will come a point where they DO violate the Constitution, and then it will be time to act physically. Until then, we can only tap our ballot choices on touch screens and watch another election go to the inept, self-serving, or socialist with good PR people.

Why do you want to start a big fuss? If you don't want to discuss the topic, don't. Everyone was getting along 'till you sounded off. Are you the hall monitor? If you are, then I apologize.:?

This is a self-moderated forum. We are equals here. Anyone can call anyone else on a policy violation.

Nothing in the Constitution can be construed as empowering the government to take over health care. "Technically" or otherwise.

Whether by popular vote or representative vote, if the basic legislation is outside the realm of the powers granted by the Constitution, it is invalid no matter how wide the margin of the vote or how popular it is (or isn't in this case).

What portion of the Constitution do you think applies giving the federal government any jurisdiction or power to regulate health care? Hint, don't even try "interstate commerce" as a big part of the problem with health care is that there is NO competition across state lines due to current regulations, hence there is no "interstate commerce" when it comes to health care.

People need to wake up and realize that the power is vested in the people first, the states second, and then to the feds. Somewhere along the way things have been turned upside down and everyone has somehow become subordinate to the feds.

Could you be a little more specific, please?

Where did The People delegate authority to the government to rule over our health care system?

The info at the link in the OP is correct. If you choose not to have healthcare you must pay a 2.5% tax based on your adjusted gross income that is above your exemption amount. If you do not pay the tax then the IRS will more than likely come to you for the money. If you make arrangements and pay it you are fine, but if you basically tell the IRS to piss off then you will more than likely find yourself in court.
