I've never been to a Washington Arms Collectors show and heard there was one this weekend in Puyallup. I found their websight, clicked around a bit, and under their 'rules' section it says, if I read it right, that you must be a member of WAC to buy or sell a firearm.

Seriously?

$35 for a membership to be able to buy?

yes and if you dont have a cpl you have to wait to get a badge I believe too.

I let my membership go. its not worrth it really alot of the weapons are over priced. only good thing about a membership you get to wlk past the long lines in puyallup

Correct - non-members cannot buy weapons. Everything else is available to you though.

$35 for a year membership allows you to bypass the long non-member lines, buy or sell a weapon and also lets you carry a weapon on your person (unloaded and tied).

$8 per visit non-member or $35 for the year - you do the math.

Because members either go through a background check or have provided a CPL as proof that they can legally own a firearm. This is the WAC being responsible and doing their part in trying to keep guns from persons that are not legally allowed to own them.

And the $8 entry fee is deducted from your membership . By the way, Stop at my table. Look for the open carry is Legal sign. M1 Gunner should be there also.

and your wife get in free if your a member.

now, be warned.....most sales are have no paper, but some will....if the person/dealer has a FFL he will do a 4473. So ask.

there are some deals to be found, but for the most part they are few and far between.

also, some folks only have a table on sat.....happened to me, something I saw sat, was back sunday and the table was gone.

if your a member and say buy a BUNCH of ammo and dont want to pack it out, drive to the orange gate....they will let you(and rig)in to pick up stuff, only took me once packing 500lbs of ammo out the long way

I've never been to a wac show but have been wanting to go but if I can't buy a gun there you can bet I'll never go!!!
There are plenty of others I can go to.

edit to add, if I want to buy ammo, reloading components and accessories there is always the internet!

Really? What others are there in WA? I'd like to go to some of the others too. But I'm not aware of them.

And, as far as only members being allowed to buy at the show, I'd much rather have that, and it's clout to help keep "gun show loophole" legislation at bay, at least here in our state than not.

Okay, I'm unclear on a few things and have some follow up questions:

1. I can understand WAC wanting to have some means of assuring eligibility to purchase for private sales, but if you want to buy from an FFL doesn't he have to run the NICS regardless? If so, why require WAC membership to buy from an FFL holder?

2. So, if you pay the $8 to get in and come across a firearm you can't do without, is it possible to join while at the show?

3. Are there generally any deals on ammunition? I'm kind of on the lookout for 1000 rounds of 223, for example.

1. Yes.

Because not everyone who has a table is a FFL. You are not only joining theorganization to buy, or sell but you are a member of an organization who is an advocate of gun rights in this state.

(Example)The WAC is a Plaintiff in the lawsuit against the city of Seattle and they represent thousands of members in this state and Seattle.

2. Yes. And they pro-rate you too, last time I checked. Deduct the gate entrance fee as well.

3. Yes

And .223 is available, in bulk. There are deals to be had, if you look!

Besides, the shows are fun.

1 - According to Rule 6 Firearm sales to — or purchases from — non-members or persons prohibited by law from firearms ownership/possession are totally forbidden. Violation will lead to immediate and permanent expulsion as a member of WAC.

See Also Rules:

Any member who is required to conduct a NICS background check on a sale of a firearm to a member at a gathering of members and who receives a denial, must IMMEDIATELY report said denial and the identity of the prospective purchaser to the Show Manager or his designee. Failure to report such information may be cause for disciplinary action.[/align] [align=justify]18. Any member whose attempted purchase of a firearm at a gathering of members is denied by NICS is immediately suspended and must surrender his or her badge forthwith. The suspension of such member shall terminate upon reversal of the NICS denial.

3 - if you get there early - some time back I watched the ammo prices climb $75 for a 1k box of ammo due to demand.

I emailed a contact at WAC and will reply with the answer to question number 1 when I get it.

Any person who is licensed as an FFL Dealer, must do the 4473 when they transfer a firearm There is a place on the 4473 for the dealer to indicate that the transfer took place at a location other than his place of business.

Today was a GREAT day. M1Gunner shared my table at the WAC show today, and will be there again tomorrow.

Now the thing that made it so GREAT..... I brought about 250 brochures, and M1Gunner had about 500. By 3:00 this afternoon, they were all GONE.

Add it up, that is 750 or more. There were several people at the table speaking with M1Gunner for the better part of the day. Not only that, but we were able to sell some of our items as well.

The entire event for OCDO was a very positive thing. I am extending my invitation again, Come and set at the table, discuss with all the passers by, promote OC in a friendly, relaxed manner. I am certain we gained some converts today.

There were a few of the forum members that stopped by, including Landpimp and two whose name I did not catch.

A big thanks to M1Gunner is in order.

I do security at the Fair so I got in through the Service Gate and into the Showplex for free. Although nothing is prohibiting you guys from buying from the WAC owners in a private sale after the show.

WAC allows members of other gun collector clubs to enter without the entry fee. I would like to see additional reciprocity that would allow those members of other clubs to buy firearms by showing their club membership and CPL.

Was a great weekend at the WAC show as Trigger Dr said we passed out over 700 pamphlets. Lots of folks crowding the table asking questions and getting the answers they were looking for.

Trigger and I came up with an idea and we would like to get volunteers to come and man the table in shifts. We can actually get you in for free with a "Vendor Assistant" pass since we are paying for the table. Anyone interested?

Lots of good deals to be had, ammo is coming down in prices as well as some of the weapons. I actully saw some AR lowers in the $60-$80 range (some fully assembled some not) I bought 250 rounds of 9mm 147gr JHP for $50.
