So who's going? Is it me or has the membership gotten lukewarm about the whole thing?

I went to the one in Falls Church, but cannot get away from work for the ones out of the area during the week.

I would hope that everyone who is local to these events would attend and stand up as a concerned constituent.

Doctor said yesterday it is the walking kind. He said it's a good thing she came in because if it got any worse they would have to put her in the hospitol. Hopfuly the meds will help, he is hoping she should feel better in the next couple days. We are going through our normal winter ritual, first the kids get sick one right after the other and than us.

    From Va-Alert dated 11/20

VCDL will protest Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones's participation in
Bloomberg's anti-gun group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, on Monday,
November 23rd at 6 PM at Richmond City Hall (intersection of 9th and
Broad Streets - across from the General Assembly Building).

The more that can come to show support for VCDL on this matter, the
    better.

Carry is legal at the meeting. As usual, we will be handing out "Guns
Save Lives" stickers in the lobby.

    Cause Grapeshot is: THAT GUY!

Just want to verify OC is legal, as I don't yet have CHP?

If OC is ok (with no CHP),I'll try to be there.

OC is quite legal in City Hall - state preemption and all that.

The "discussion" was about their extra legal rule regarding signing in for a public meeting.

Ha anyone gotten an opinion of the sign in rule from the FOIA Council?

On another point, are there any plans for a get together after the meeting?

Repeated requests have been made to the mayor's office and to the City Att'y. for explanation as to the source and legitimacy of such sign-in. Beyond having receipt of the correspondence, neither has elected to respond - totally ignored, months have gone by with periodic copies of previous requests forwarded.

A formal FOIA request would seem to be the only way that such information will be forthcoming. Suggest that we see what happens Monday - they are very aware of the problem.

I seem to remember a case on this specific issue being in violation of Va. Open Meeting law, but don't have it at hand today.

I am sure that we will find time to eat and debrief after the council meeting - no specific plans yet though.

I'll be there, as long as my burn pile is down to cinders in time.

I'm suprised about the sign-in sheet. You'd think they'd learn.
Maybe they figured when they took down the illegal gun ban that would
satisfy citizens. How dare we expect them to be accountable on all
    liberties!

The sign in issue is more of a Life Safety issue than anything else at Richmond City Hall. Technically you are in the building after hours with permission. Should an emergency occur such as a fire or building collapse they will know how/who is in the building to evacuate/recover. Most if not all government buildings/large corporate campuses started a similar process after the Oklahoma City Federal Building Bombing.

As much as people want to think or make it something else issue, it is not.

That's just a horrible thought Kenny!
Just think, trapped inside with City Council.

Does one have to show any type of ID when SIGNING IN?
