Visiting vegas what are the do's and don'ts

we are visiting vegas for the first time on a much needed vacation in feb. will be flying in and renting a car for a little over one week and staying a one of the hotels on the strip

what are the laws concerning firearms my concealed carry permit is not valid in nevada so i do not know what exactly to expect.

can i legally open carry or will that get me into trouble.

The "DO'S" are: bring your money and spend it freely.

The "DON'TS" are: Carry anyplace you want but be advised that most of the big hotel/casinos get nervous about it and may ask you to leave.

There have been incidents of people being harassed on the strip by LEO, but that seems to be getting better. The point is in any encounter with LEO, know your rights, and stand up for them. Read through these Nevada stories and you will have just about any question you have answered regarding your rights, the law, and what to do in any situation. You have every right under NV law to open carry with few exceptions. The only one for you might be the airport as I don'timmagineyou are going to be visiting our schools or our posted government buildings or parks.

Off the strip, the chance of anyone saying word one is infinitesimal. Carry away.

Nevada has a stop and identify law, doesn't it?

NRS 171.123, but it does require the Terry standards be met. In other words, you may only be stopped if law enforcement has reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime that has occurred, is currently occurring, or is about to occur imminently.

is any of the hotels pro gun and good placed to deal with or on the flip side anti gun and to stay away from?

Hard to say. Some have reported no problems at casinos. One user yesterday reported OC at Green Valley Ranch with no issues, another at Sunset Station with no problems. This suggests Station Casinos may be gun friendly.

Back in January, a visitor reported being kicked out of (and officially trespassed) of O'sheas casinos on the strip merely for wearing an EMPTY HOLSTER. O'sheas is part of Harrahs, but the security guy writing up the trespass order said it did not apply at other Harrahs properties, only O'sheas. Many Boyd properties are posted in the parking garage (Main Street Station, Sams Town, California).

I have been in many small casinos/resturants with no problems. I have also been in Fiesta/Henderson several times.

i visit Vegas once a year , stay with Family. is OC in the car legal ?

Yes it is. Just make sure it is not covered in any way. You can also have it sitting out in the open or in the glovebox.

pistol ok on person, but not concealed. pistol ok to conceal in glove box, or under a seat or anywhere not on person. long gun- can have a mag in, but not chambered. (justa fill in from big guys response)



And @ the hotels question. I think I go un noticed because my holster is black and my clothes are black, but I carry into sunset and red rock for movies a lot and haven't had a problem. At rio I spent the night OCing, and had no problem, but I've never sat down at a machine or blackjack table.
