Surprise! Cop-killer had stolen handgun

One of his guns was stolen and the other???? If it can be shown that he purchased it from a private party, and that party knew he was a felon prohibited from owning a gun, should the private party be prosecuted?

FWIW, there is precedent. After the Columbine Massacre a pizza joint employee was prosecuted for selling one of the guns used to a minor who was prohibited from owning a handgun.
