Where is the best place online for current open carry laws and regulations?

Does your holster need a secure strap over it like LEOs have?

    http://opencarry.org/maps.html

It helps if you post your city/state on your profile as well.

    For NC: http://opencarry.com/nc.html

for the rest of the US: http://opencarry.com/maps.html

Some additional resources for NC: http://www.grnc.org/guns.htm

There are lots of sources but they are all pretty much the same.

Another thing you should lookup are your city/county (or any cities and counties you may visit) ordinances/statutes/etc to know what those gun laws are. Since there are so many cities and counties in a single state, those typically are not posted on any private sites so you'll have to go to the government sites themselves, for example:

    Greensboro, NC: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/citygovernment/code.htm

Greensboro gun laws are under Chapter 18 Article II.

    Raleigh, NC:http://library1.municode.com/default...ction=whatsnew

Raleigh gun laws seem to be spread throughout, one should always search with keywords such as 'firearm' or 'gun' to be sure you find as many of the laws as possible.

NC doesn't really have OC laws, as it is not specifically illegal, or addressed then it is legal.

Chapel Hill has a 6'' ordinance for OC, measured from the muzzle to the intersection with the line that the backstrap forms with the side.

Cary has a no OC on city property, including streets and sidewalks (though I have not seen ANY cases of it being enforced.

I would suggest a retention holster if you are going to OC. You wouldn't want a baddie going for your gun.
