Discussion
I just spoke with a coworker who had been discussing ammo and guns with me this past year after he discovered the joys of target shooting. Today he mentioned that he saw somebody OCing in Walmart and was wondering why Walmart didn't have a policy against it after all he should feel safe in a store and should leave his arms in his glove box. This of course sparked a discussion about carrying, self-defense, intent and other items related to carry. I asked if somebody should 'feel' safe going to a movie and other questions about gun free zones which we didn't have a chance to get too deep into the conversation because we have work to do. But I was struck that he said seeing somebody else carrying made him feel nervous and that he had gotten his CHP so why didn't everyone. I will continue this discussion with him at a later time.
I will add that during this discussion another coworker stopped by and said that Walmart doesn't want to be responsible for our safety because of (potential) costs associated with such a policy. He even explained some of what he meant.
