Dear Mr. @@@@@,
Thank you for your recent correspondence. I appreciate you taking the time to write and share your concerns about such an important issue.
Currently, HB 4348 has been referred to the House Committee on Judiciary, chaired by State Representative Meadows. As I am not a member of this committee, I will not have the opportunity to vote on this legislation unless it is brought before the full house for a vote. I will gladly share your viewpoint with the chairman of this committee and other members so that these issues may be addressed. Additionally, I will keep your thoughts in mind should the legislation come before the full House for a vote.
If you would like to receive notices announcing committee meetings, which include the agenda, you may subscribe on-line by going to www.house.mi.gov/committee_subscribe.asp
Again, thank you for your correspondence. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to call my office toll-free at 1-888-LISS-028

Dear Mr. @@@@@,
Thank you for taking the time to write me and inquire about House Bill 4348. I appreciate hearing from you.
House Bill 4348 repeals the gun-free-zone provision of the concealed pistol permit law. The gun-free-zone provision prohibits an individual who has received a permit from carrying a pistol in schools, day care facilities, sports stadiums or arenas, bars, restaurants, places of worship, college dorms and classrooms, hospitals, casinos, entertainment facilities, and courts.
The bill has not been voted on yet because it was referred to the House Committee on Judiciary for further review. When a bill is referred to a committee, the chair of that committee decides whether or not to allow a hearing on the bill. If the bill receives a hearing individuals or organizations can testify in favor or against the bill. Amendments to the bill can be voted on in the committee too. Once a bill is passed in committee it is then sent to the House floor. The House Speaker will then decide when the bill will be brought up for a vote.
To view the minutes and testimonies of the House Judiciary Committee visit, www.house.mi.gov.
I hope you found this information to be helpful. Thank you again for your correspondence and sharing your support for House Bill 4348. I will keep you comments in mind when House Bill 4348 is brought before the House floor for a vote.
Sincerely,
Jon Switalski
