I have calls into 3 people re the article below:

“They were only looking at **automatic** weapons,” says Gorsky, who keeps a variety of handguns and rifles in his Madison home. “I found that the most concerning.”
[reporter should have corrected quote or noted he was referring to normal semi-automatic guns]
"It’s not the only easy way criminals have discovered to get their hands on a weapon. Sometimes they get it from a friend or family member who buys the gun under his or her own name. This act of “straw purchasing” is just a misdemeanor in Wisconsin, punishable by up to nine months in jail."
[not illegal unless the recipient is the actual purchaser - there is no buying "in your name" anyway - the ATF Form 4473 is simply a record of transfer - the new owner can then give away or sell her gun after she leaves the store]
"Unlike weapons purchased from a federally licensed firearms dealer, weapons bought at a gun show can be whisked away that same day without a background check on the purchaser, the main reason for Gorsky’s concern."
[grossly misleading - private sellers where ever they are do not need to run background checks - only federal dealers do, and they must do so even at gun shows]
"These loopholes in the law"
[how about so-called loopholes? When do freedoms become de facto loopholes?]
"A check must be conducted before a person can buy a handgun in Wisconsin, except when the gun is purchased at a gun show."
[not true - there is no exception at gun shows - all dealers must run background checks; private sellers do not nor do they outside gun shows at yard sales, thru newspaper ads, etc.]
"State law now allows weapons to be carried in someone’s home, business or on their land."
[and openly generally, in public, and accordingly to the Wisc. S. Ct. in Hamdan, concealed where the carrier has a good reason and lawful purpose].
