I officially moved to Henderson this week and have been OC'ing all week. Coming from Kalifornia this has been like night and day. I started off by going to Burlington coat factory to get a jacket. Shopped for awhile when a lady saw my gun and asked if I was security. I responded with a "no, just an American." As I payed for my items security informed me they don't allow guns in their store.

Next up was Dicks across the street from Sunset station. Had no issues as I got some ammo. Walked to the hot dog on a stick and ordered a lemonade when security informed me I was not allowed to have a firearm there. I told him I was getting a lemonade and was leaving anyways.

Went to walmart on Eastern and the 215. The first time there the group behind the deli counter asked if I was the police. I said no. They then asked if I had a permit. I informed then that in fact I did and pulled out my pocket constitution. A manager came over and also told they deli crew that it was perfectly fine to OC there. A couple days later a random door checker told me I couldn't shop there with a gun as I was leaving. I asked her if that was corporate policy. She said yes. I then told her she should talk to the managment to get better informed before banning shoppers from the store. She said she would get her manager and that I should wait outside. I told her I don't have time to play with her and I needed to get home.

Last but not least was Green Valley Ranch hotel and casino. My father hit a royal on a quarter machine and wanted me to pick him up since he got real drunk. I picked him up and he wanted to go to GVR and have some fun. We went inside and started playing one of those penny slots that actually cost more then most quarter slots! Anyways I got some random bonus and got a high five from my father only to notice about 6 guys standing behind me. The main guy who I will call "T" asked if my firearm was loaded. I said yes and told him that this is an open carry state and I am not doing anything illegal. I also told him I was a constitutionalist and I like exercising my Rights. This kinda threw him off and he stumbled a little bit. He said that they didn;t feel comfortable with me having the gun on the casino floor. That someone may take it from me and hurt someone. Instead of escalating the situation by pointing out the flaws of his logic from the statements he made I simply asked him if he wanted me to put it away. He said that I would have to since it is their policy but he hoped I would continue to play there. I said I would put it in the car. I got escorted out my a whole team. On the walk to my car something happened that surprised the sh1t outta me.

HE OFFERED ME A JOB!!!!

He said that he is looking for people who know the constitution and peoples Rights and who know how to handle firearms. He gave me a card and said I should call him in a few days.

All in all even though I was asked to not go into places with my gun this is 10000% better then the peoples Republic of Kalifornia.:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate

AWESOME! Glad things went so well for you. One thing that surprised me was your willingness to put the gun in the car at GVR. I guess it worked out for you - you got a job offer. :)

Obviously another flawed part of their logic. They're worried someone brazen enough to attack an armed man will do so and then use the gun to hurt people, but they're NOT worried about a gun left unsecured in your vehicle?

What was your thought process in deciding to leave the gun and return to the casino as opposed to just leaving?

My father was having a good time and pretty drunk. He wanted to stay for a few and make some football bets. We left about 20 minutes later and I took him to wildfire's off of sunset.

That's cool. There's always good reasons like spending some drama-free time with your dad. Do you have a CCW? I only ever CC when I go to casinos to avoid just such hassles.

No I do not have a CCW. They don't give them out in California. I do plan on getting one just so I can be armed in casino's and other places. It is a trade off I suppose of some of my beliefs by getting a CC. I don't like the fact that I need to ask the government permission to exercise one of my Rights, because then it isn't a Right it is a privledge.

I just dont get it I guess. You people want stores to recognise your rights, yet when they tell you they dont want you to,you still buy the product. The coat factory tells you as you check out they dont want you but you still gave them money. Wally tells you no and you still gave them money. As far as a casino, well I know going in they wont like OC so I CC. :banghead:

I agree with steve, however it is his first week OCing, andI still say he did good. He is new to town, and OC too, after a couple of months he will know alternative places of buisness ,and become more OC savvy. He is representing well andI like to see it.

Ineteresting story. You have hadas many comments and problems in your first OC outing than I have the whole time I've been OC here in Henderson/LV. I've only had3 negative run ins andtwo were resolved in my favor, the other is still in the works. The latest being on friday in a Pep Boys when the service writer looked at me and said "don't shoot me" (he thought he was being funny). He asked me why I carry and I told him it was for people that annoy me. As he was writing up my ticket he turned to the manager and loudly said "he has a gun, is that ok?" The service manager said "as long as he isn't waving it around and leaves it holstered". The thing that my run in at Lee's liquor (posted on here) and this one at Pep Boys have in common is that both these guys were recentescapees from Arnolds Kalifornia.

It has been my experience that the more relaxed you get with open carry, the fewer "looks" you will get. In other words when you are nervous about OC your body language causes people to notice you.

Welcome to Nevada fellow constitutionalist.

EDIT: uhg failed at quoting
First off Wally told me no AFTER I purchased my items. As far as burlington goes I was also told after I paid for my sweater. I won't shop there again. I suppose I could have returned the sweater right there on the spot but it was my decision to keep it because it was the coldest weather I have ever been in!!

I want people to respect my Right but at the same time I must respect theirs as businesses. In all the cases I had already purchased products before being told OC was against their policy. In the case of the coat factory I told them I would not be shopping there.

Are you saying I should have gone in to these stores and asked what their policy was before buying something?

I could understand your point if I returned to these businesses after being told I could not OC but that is not the case.

That response DOES NOTHING to advance us. Maybe you should have been polite and educated him correctly?

Perhaps, but I deemed the guy to be an idiot. We are the sum total of our life's experiences and my gut instinct told me that attempting to "educate" him would have been fruitless. It was obvious to me that his manager was already irritated with him and he was also a guy that obviouslycan not walk and chew gum at the same time. I was already late for work and the last thing I wanted to do was engage this guy and delay my need to leave. Do you remember the line from the movie True Grit, where Glen Campbell says "You've done nothing when you've bested a fool"?

When I have an opportunity to educate an open mind I takeit you can be assured. One of the reasons I carry is to wake people up to the broader concern that we are losing "ALL" of our rights and freedoms. Open carry is a good way of bringing it into the light and to give the opportunity for discussion about the demise of our country and constitution. Having said that, there is a time and place for everything and unfortunately there are only so many hours in the day and I have other concerns that sometimes take precedence.

I do appreciate your comment and urge you to keep up the good fight.

Anybody talked with burlington corporate to see if this store was giving correct information, or just one clerks opinion (as often happens)?

I've OCed in casino's a handful of times, mostly when I go to watch a movie or to eat dinner in one. Wonder why they've never said anything to me.

The question I get the most is, "is that a real gun?" usually followed by "are you security?" or some variant.

I'm curious - do a lot of people OC with fake guns or something? what would cause people to assume its not real? or is that their polite feeler question that they can't get the gets up and say what they really want to say like, woah i'm scared by something i know nothing about.

anyway OP - keep it up, and welcome to vegas.

I only hope our gun rights get LOOSE as you say. But being a jerk to someone and using a child like response will only cause us to LOSE our rights.

I agree with refusing to give money to jackoff businesses that don't respect the basic human right to refuse to lay down and die.

Give him time, people don't just pop up in a new state ready to be everything.

I wish I was that guy... This State Sucks, it's damn near impossible to escape.

I've read this whole thread and several others, but have not seen anything that specifies if the writers are speaking about LOADED OC. I'm guessing all the references are to LOC but just want to be sure.

I visit Las Vegas on a regular basis and would love to LOC next time if the requirements are similar to California's UOC rules. Thanks in advance.
