Wow, this seems to be happening more and more in the Omaha area.
5 arrested in violent home invasion
Five men were arrested by Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigators after a violent home invasion Sunday afternoon in west Omaha.
A 33-year-old man was sitting in his apartment just after 1:30 p.m. near 144th Street and West Maple Road when three men walked into the unlocked apartment with guns. The victim of the home invasion was pistol-whipped by one of the men. He did not require medical attention.
The three took electronics equipment from the man and fled the apartment, said Sgt. Eric Sellers of the Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's investigators in an unmarked car saw men who fit the victim's description riding in a Cadillac. The driver of the Cadillac sped away and the investigators lost the suspects for a short while.
The Cadillac collided with another vehicle near 83rd Street and Bedford Avenue, and five men, all 17- and 18-years-old, were arrested on suspicion of robbery. Investigators found stolen items in the Cadillac. No one was injured in the collision.
The victim of the home invasion was brought to the scene and identified the three he said robbed him.
