It sure didn't take long to pull the story from CNN. I just read the story and buzzed it to my yahoo to comment. As soon as I submitted my comment, the whole story disappeared. Another thing that was odd was how the story was pretty intent on labeling these guns as evil and blamed the recent shootings on them. Funny, because I distinctly remember revolvers and regular pistols that were used. Only one officer was killed by a .223 "assault" rifle. The comments confirmed that people did not, for the most part agree with the ban... But there were none of the usual tabs to click to say you agree with the persons comment... Just the report violation button. Go figure. If nothing is done, it seems maybe this ban has already been decided for the residents of Washington, as stated in the story

I doubt that is the case. The bill will have very few proponents

Hah!

I'd love to see him try. Maybe if he was heavily trained, wasn't aiming, and all of his magazines were laying out on the table, standing up, so he could drop the rifle on them.

And good luck PAYING for that craziness! 5.56mm (or .223 Rem for that matter) is EXPENSIVE. ;) The prices on AR food are enough to keep me from pulling my baby out most of the time.

And yes, the anti-gun guys are passive-aggressive, non-confrontational tools. Get used to it, Poosharker. It ESPECIALLY pisses them off when younguns like us (who are supposed to be their voterbase) happen to think we should be allowed to defend ourselves.

First off,
I would like to say senator adam kline, IS A PANZY. I will not bother capitalizing his name.

I am indeed a new member to OCDO, and I am young,18, and very new to this subject. I am an Asian American male, and I might not look "normal" to some. However I am not a criminal. I was in downtown Seattle this morning, and on OCDO, when I saw NavyLT's post about the wa ceasefire meeting at 31st and King St in the Leschi neighborhood. Right away I searched the bus route there, and ran to catch the bus.

I arrived early, and got a seat in the second row, if there is any video, I am the asian kid with the black hoodie near the front of the room. I introduced myself to Ellie and had a conversation with her about the views and why she was here and what she wanted. Part of the conversation she was being a panzy and running from my direct question, but she still respected my opinion.

The meeting began. There was a board up front, with a picture of an AR-15 if I am correct. The first crap I heard was "ban military assault semi-automatic weapons". RED FLAG in my head started swinging around. But this was the first time I had ever attended a public meeting of this sort, and did not know the etiquette. I stayed hush, and listened carefully.

There were a couple of guest speakers, and I am bad at names, but I definitely remember adam kline. Because he disrespected me at the end. We'll get to that. One of the guest speakers was the mother of Aaron Sullivan, who was killed by a 19 year old man after an argument about a female with a semi-automatic rifle. I totally respect her for what she had to say, but this is where the emotional crap came in to ease everyone into the mood.

Next we had Rev. Dr. Samuel B. Mckinney speak, and he just came up and cracked some jokes about how he didn't get shipped overseas in the military because he "missed" his targets while shooting. I don't know where the hell he was going with that.

Then they had a discussion of how every black man in that room has been pulled over by the police, etc.

Next up, SPD Chief John Diaz. He talked about how the ban would not prevent murders but would prevent "mass murders" which is what these "military assault semi-automatic weapons" are ONLY made for.

Also, the "gunshow loophole" where background checks were done once and last for "decades" and anyone 18 and over could just go in there and buy anything. They did not mention this is not a GUNSHOW LOOP, this is a LAW LOOP, where a private sell does not require a BG check, but FFL dealers MUST. Bastards.

There were a couple legislators that talked about the ban, that pointed out various items on the AR-15 and talked about how unnecessary they are.

Question time came.

Ok I had a meeting with another person at 1130, but I delayed it while he was on the way, and I was in the meeting, because I wanted my god damn questions answered in front of everyone. Now remember, my first time going to one of these, and dealing with these "high level" people. Questions came, and everytime they'd stop, I'd try to pipe up but nope, let's ignore that acne face asian kid, he don't look like he would contribute to our cause, f*** him.

An interesting question came. The legislators mentioned something about doing MORE background checks on people who have guns currently, and maybe having sheriffs come into the home to make sure the guns were locked up properly, etc. The lady brought up "invasion of privacy" and then after a bit of going back and forth, the legislators, said, we won't have that done probably. WTH.

They said 2 more questions, and some younger female spoke out about compassion and whatnot, and then I kept trying to start my question, HELL, even the white older lady (Ellie) next to me who DISSAGREED with my opinion, grabbed my arm in the air and spoke out "This young man, the youngest in here, has a question!!!". Pffft, like anyone of them cared. Wow. Even the black man behind me and the lady in front was saying, "I want to hear his question!"

Instead of taking 2 questions, they decided to take 3 and it sure as hell wasn't me. I wish, I had one of you guys from OCDO, to give me some courage to REALLY SPEAK OUT. But this was my first time, but also my chance to speak out against this BS. And I failed.

Anyways, they ended it around 10:50ish, and said we'll take your questions private 1 on 1. I called BS on that. I was pissed. I didn't want no 1 on 1 crap. I wanted to front these idiots in front of everyone.

But a couple people behind me were still saying, they wanted to hear what I wanted to ask, so I asked who would I speak to, and was pointed to senator adam kline. I went up to him, asked him, " I am confused about this suggested ban, what is it that you are banning, the appearance or the technology?'

He tried to say some s*** about the flash hider muzzle, the multi-position stock, that would make it "EASY" to hide. WTF.

I repeated my question and told him he wasn't answering it. He started to try to get away, I told him, the function of the semi-automatic rifle, and a semi-automatic "hunters" rifle, are the same, and that the difference was the appearance. Bastard did not want to face me. Some asswipe cut me off and he had adam kline decided to have a mini conversation in front of my damn face, loudly speaking to not let me cut in. I stood there and waited. He finally stopped, and I tried to get another direct answer from him, but nope he decided to walk away. I was pissed, but I did not know what to do that would not get me in trouble.

I went back to Ellie and thanked her and she gave me her card (she's an MD at harborview) and left and ran back to the bus to get to downtown to meet the guy I was meeting before.

senator adam kline, wants to deal with important issues, yet he cannot "handle" an 18 year old kid. WTF is he doing.

adam kline, you are indeed a panzy, that ran away from my questions that you knew would destroy your credibility.

I want to add something also. Remember that I am an asian american, and most of you here are old white dudes (from what I see in your OC gathering picnic pics), maybe a coloured guy or two, but never more than a few. I am young. And I am learning, and people like adam kline are the reason us "young teens" DON'T F***ING talk to older people, because they don't F***ING listen, unless the views and opinions are specifically the same.

SVG, posted that I can be the guy to break the stereotype, and F*** yeah I am more motivated to do that now more than ever.

And I am out.

Maybe this was a rant, but this is how I feel.
I like you.

Damn Sharker! Glad to see you joined us AND glad to see fellow younger folks. I hate heading to the range and seeing that everyone around me is 10-15+ years older. If you ever get a ride up north to the Bellingham area for a meetup the foods on me!

Not even legal to hunt deer with an AR-15.... the anti-gunners and hunter haters of this State have been restricting us for years now (since the 1960s) and they won't stop until every single thing we do INCLUDING BREATHING is taxed and controlled.
Hunters are freakin restricted to certain firearms to use to hunt meat??? Seriously, these antis need to have it stapled to their head. This is not about safety, this is DISCRIMINATION of appearance.....
An AR-15 is prohibited for hunting deer not because it's an Ebil Black Rifle with a Pistol Grip and a Shoulder Thing That Goes Up and a 10,000 Round Clip that can Spray Indiscriminate Death At Crowds Of Babies at 2,000 Rounds Per Second From The Hip while getting nothing but headshots, it's because .223 is an inappropriately small caliber for hunting something as large as a deer (as the WAC cite indicates).

An AR-10 would be Just Fine for deer hunting, as would an M-1A or FAL.

I suspect you'd be limited to a 5-round magazine, but I couldn't find that in the law. I didn't look very hard, though.

Washington state does not have a limit on magazine capacity for hunting or anything else.

Was running into that law about shotguns when looking at buying one. Was told if I wanted to have one that I could hunt with, needed a 3 round magazine with an extension if I wanted. Luckily, I don't care too much about hunting so I'll get the one that holds 7+1. :D

If you use it in self defense will you get charged for hunting without a licsense, out of season, and larger capacity magazin?

Yes, you are correct. I do not hunt with a shotgun for birds, and even though I knew about this it completely slipped my mind. My bad:cuss:

I just joined here. Been lurking for awhile, signed up a few days ago. I frequent DC pretty often. I am not sure if this is my first reply to a thread or not. I just wanted to say that I am absolutely awestruck by your actions here. When I was 18 my head was not nearly as screwed on tightly as you have yours man. I applaud that you cared enough about something to hop on a bus at a moments notice and to try your best to get some answers. I honestly wish there were more young people out there like yourself. Our country would be better for it.

As far as not speaking up, it is easy to get intimidated at events like this. Especially with so much "anti" sentiment in the room. HOWEVER it is a public forum. That public official is there exactly for that reason. To SERVE the public. You have every right to want answers. A few tips at getting your answers heard in a public forum:

1. He who stands up first gets the first question. If, when they finished and said it was on to QA and you had been the first one out of your seat you would have gotten a better response.

2. He who is LOUDEST is heard. When you stand up make sure your presence is felt. Usually when someone louder than themselves is heard, most people will give them the floor and wait until you are done.

3. If you get the chance to speak to these shoddy public officials wear an audio recorder or take video. As long as it is obvious that you are recording the conversation,(audio or video) then it is legal to do so at a public forum. At least then you would have some video of the guy dodging your questions that we could all watch and pass around to get the word out.

Those things aside I commend your spirit sir! Please keep up your efforts and remember that people in public office work for people, not the other way around.

S

**EDIT** yes i know this is a really old post. I still liked it. :) DC = DefensiveCarry not Washington D.C. just to be clear. Glad to be on OpenCarry as well!

Thank you Savage206. You are definitely right with your tips, I wish that I had more time to prepare and have more courage to have been louder than that silly politician. I've got a good year and a half here on OCDO and I'm definitely sure I have picked up a lot more ideas and suggestions from the more experienced.

The times that I have gotten to OC, using my favorite RCW (ask me what it is!), I have had nothing but positive encounters and absolutely no BS due to having knowledge and adding in patience with people I speak with on the subject of OC or firearms in general.
