My wife and I tried a new restaurant in Gig Harbor yesterday. "The Devoted Kiss" is only open for breakfast and lunch, and they don't have a liquor license yet, but the food is great, and the view of the harbor is outstanding. No comments about my Kimber from staff or customers.

What do you guys think of me OCing at Arts Walk in downtown Tacoma tonight? My CPL still hasn't arrived so I wouldn't be able to conceal if asked.

Walked around Renton today o/c. Went from 7th ave to BofA, then to Safeway, thent to Fred Meyer. Nothing said the entire time I was walking. The headed over to Wlmart to pick up some .223 ammo and the cashier was a little nervous when I asked to get some ammo. Security greated me on the way out and said NICE PIECE. Other than that, nothing and no problems.

Went to Starbucks with several other OCers (nice meeting you guys). Then went to Best Buy and bought a voice recorder. Around noonish, I went to Columbia Bank. No problems through the whole day.

After a nice welcome home meet up in the morning w the guys (thanks everybody) I took the family for lunch to a nice little place in South Tacoma way (Cham Korean BBQ)... The waiter (a guy in his late 20's) didn't say anything or didn't notice at first. When I stand up to start picking our stuff (all you can eat buffet) he acknowledge and proceed to start asking questions... Hey its that a glock? (me ) yes... Are you law enforcement ? (me) nope, just a regular joe... Its legal to carry like that ? (me) Yes its perfectly legal to carry openly in the State of Washington !!! I proceed to handed to him the Open Carry pamphlet (Thanks M1 Gunner) and have a little talk ... He was a little bit surprised and proceed to say he was concealing at the moment and he was carrying a Glock as well (this is his parents establishment) but of course because of the nature of his business he could not carry openly. He was very supportive and says that we are more than welcome on their establishment.

Got an Address/website? It would be nice to find a good Korean restaurant to eat at some time.

Very cool, I will be visiting them for some grub. I spent some time in Korea and eat quite a bit of the food even here at home, good to see that they are gun friendly.

there's another great Korean place (haven't OC'ed there yet though) in the asian market on Bridgeport accross S. Tacoma way from Denny's, right behind the Poppeye's. Most authentic Korean chow I've had in the states, get the Dol sot bi-bim-bap and you won't leave hungry.

My saddle making friend never ever orders leather from tandy. I will give her a call and get the names of a couple of good sources online.

BTW that sewing machine, did you get it new or used? I looked into buying even a used one once and they are not cheap.

sewing machine is used, it was built in 1953! (in WEST Germany, that outta date it some) about $1200 will get you what I have (500 series Pfaff) and about $2k will get you an even better 1200 series. they last forever though.

Tandy store on Pacific closed I think, I don't even know where to get leather anymore; if you get any good sources, hit me up please!

OC'd up in the mountains this weekend, that's about it. (woopty do right?) but got some funny looks from the guys fishing at Walupt lake. had wife and kids with me, had my G35 in a dropleg holster and a SP101 .357 on my left hip. M1A and 870 were in the truck, wore my hunter orange in case I came accross any bear; did take out the M1A while we picked mushrooms though.

did have a lady gasp about a month or so ago on my first bear trip this year; she saw my rifle and asked what I was hunting? I told her bear season was open already and she obviously didn't care much for shooting bear! But they're tasty... and that's a lot of meat in the freezer.

Hope this helps, did a quick google search for "buy leather tacoma" and I got that... you can also probably find a decent online dealer or such if you wanna look hard enough...

Anywho! Back on topic... Been open carrying at school lately, not a problem in any of my classes. In fact, both of my teachers on campus seem to like the idea that I'm carrying. I've been open carrying on pierce transit buses as much as possible and since I have my CPL, I no longer have to worry about unloading. :monkey Nobody even really pays attention to me. Had one older guy with a bike go and talk to a pierce county sheriff at the parkland transit center. Only reason I know this is because I had to wait at the transit center for half an hour for my next bus. Decided to walk over to the officer cuz I could tell he was looking at me. Introduced myself and let him know that I was one of the good guys and that I was perfectly legal to be carrying. He never asked me for my information. He did ask me if I had a CPL and I told him I did. I asked if he was requiring me to display it and he nope. Talked for a few minutes about guns and what we both carried and then I went on my merry way home.

Sunday morning, had to go to the ER in lakewood and didn't know they had a "no weapons" sign. Went in and let the lady at the intake desk know right away that I was carrying though and she just asked me to put it in my car. Told her I came by cab and she said to go talk to security. Everything went well till it was time for me to get my gun back and leave... long story short, security shift change and when I was ready to leave, the head of security wouldn't give me my gun, police were called, I was asked to leave and escorted off the property by 2 officers. Needless to say, I was extremely ticked off and justifiablly so. Finally got my weapon back after waiting 20 minutes... One of the officers had run the SN of my gun and told me it was an unregistered firearm :banghead: they demanded my ID and CPL so they could check for any felonies -_-; Funniest part of the whole thing was that when I checked it in with security, they gave me a lock for my gun and it still had the lock on it by the time the police gave it back to me... as of right now, my experience with Lakewood police tells me that most of them are idiots.

Are you for real? Didn't you just go through this same crap? Stop volunteering information to people you don't know!
Why the F@#* did you hand your weapon over to some ass hat in a security uniform?
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but c'mon. I think in your case the police should have just kept the thing.

Putting new tires and wheels on the Jeep. Ordered up some wheels and waited a couple of days, Gus calls and let's me know my 5 wheels and tires are in. Went in and handed over the keys and waited. When Gus took my keys he asked 'Sig?' and I replied 'Yep'. He said he is a S&W guy himself.

After they finished and I retrieved my Jeep I had to take the old rims/tires home. They could only get two in the back. So I took them home, took out the back seat and returned for the other three.

At that point Dion said that I look familiar ...do I work a table at the WAC show? Yep, the OC table frequently as well as my profession (Champion) talked guns and shooting spots for a bit.

I think your a nice guy and I have been giving you the benifit of the doubt about everything thus far. But why do you keep informing people of your carry? The officer can look at you all he wants, if he wanted to talk to you he would have came right over to you after talking to the other guy on a bike.

If you didn't see a no weapons sign, you should not have asked or said a word about it. If they saw you carrying in that shoulder rig, and said something to you about no firearms. Then tell them you came in a cab or whatever and try to come up with a solution.

I personally do not inform anyone that I am carrying open or concealed. Open means they should be able to see it and it's on them if they don't... Concealed means they are not suppose to see it so why tell someone... I'll never understand the guys that do that.

You've worked hard to get your rights back. And maybe part of you is scared something bad will happen. But you need to act like your suppose to have one, not go telling people that your ok to have one. That will only put people on high alert that maybe they should watch you. Because it is NOT normal to go up to a officer and tell him you are leagal to carry your gun. It's not normal to inform someone your doing comerce with that you have a gun.

The only time I talk about my gun in public is if someone comments or starts up small talk. I get alot of are you a cop? type questions and I simply say no, just a citizen going about my day. If they further talk I answer questions or tell them about this site.

In my experience most of the lakewood cops are pretty good.

ok so... you go into an emergency room, have to take your clothes off... where are you going to hide your gun? If the hospital has a "No Weapons" policy, you can be in a **** load of trouble. I had to get xrays and bunch of other exams... I was carrying right under my coat... as soon as I took my coat off in front of a doctor or nurse, they would have seen it. What then? I didn't see the sign on the door. I handed my weapon over because they locked it up in a safe as well as had me put a lock on the weapon itself. I had to fill out paperwork declaring what the weapon was, the SN and such and both security and I got a copy of said paperwork. Not unlike going to a court house with a weapon and having to check it in... you just gonna walk through the doors and not say a word? Get a clue.

#1, see my above post.
#2 I was open carrying the day that I talked to the officer. He was actually really nice and thanked me for talking to him. He wasn't aware that I was carrying till the guy n the bike told him at which point, he was staring at me fairly hard. I could see him looking at me clearly from across the road and I was the only one at the transit center at the time so it was also obvious.

Most of the time, I don't say a single thing but I knew that some hospitals don't allow weapons. I'm a group health member and they don't allow weapons but they have no signs on the doors. They have no signs on purpose. They say that it makes for an "unfriendly atmosphere". But they do have it in their rules that if a member has a weapon, they can have their membership removed... where would I be then without medical coverage? I'm fairly sure that Tacoma General and multicare has no problems with people legally carrying. But I didn't know about the fransiscan(sp) hospitals.

It wasn't directed at me. But I would have asked them to leave the room while I disrobed. They would have complied. You could have rolled it up in your coat and set it out of the way in the corner of the room on the floor or something. If you changed rooms. Insist that your valuables are in there and move it with you.

Maybe you need to travel with a small nylon duffle or something that will fold up small into a coat pocket. There are ways to avoid an incidence.

edited... after reading your reply above. Yes there is a risk of them finding out you had a gun on you. I guess you weigh that against how bad the injury is? Maybe it was worth the money to take a cab back to the house to leave it then and go back un armed. In a perfect world we should be able to carry anywhere. But there comes times we all weigh what we need or want to do vs our right to carry and make desicions accordingly.

I still say you should not have went over to the officer. Sure he thanked you and was cordial, but point is he didn't approach you because he didn't feel he needed to or had the right to bother you. Let him look and wonder, go on about your day.
