Nope, never been there! I'm happy to say I don't even know where it is!

If it hadn't been for the many times I had to be an Armed escort of folks going in and out of there, I would likely be able to say I didn't either.

South of the Dupont Gate, nearly as close to I-5 as you can get without leaving Fort Lewis, up on the hill west of the cliffs above Railroad Ave.

I OCed at the Frederickson Safeway and then went to the gun show. I didn't OC at the gun show because of a lack of membership, no big deal, house rules. There was a great price on an 8mm Mauser Hakim. I then ate lunch at Burger King on Canyon Rd near hwy 512. There were no issues as expected.

I completed a Traffic Flagger class today in Tacoma. About halfway through the class, the instructor said "Washington is an OPEN CARRY STATE" I immediately raised my hand and said that I had some pamphlets in my truck that I would make available during the break. At that point he asked me to stand and give a little information re OC. I briefly explained preemption and said that I would remain after the class was over and answer questions rather than take up the Flagger class time.
After class, I spent about an hour, gave out several pamphlets, answered questions and had a good response. I did not OC during the first part of the class as I wanted the certification, but after break, OC all the way.
The instructor (Larry) said that he checks into the forum frequently. Good Positive day.

Info for the class since I'm currently under-employed.

Send one my way

! enroute:banana:
A little more info. Traffic Flagger (not FLOGGER) class today in Tacoma. It is an 8 hour class taught by an instructor with 30 years experience. Very informative open enrollment, lots of class participation, Firearms friendly, open book test at end. Cost is $45 paid in cash at end of class.
You can register at http://www.affinitysafetytraining.com/. Certification is good in Wa, Or, Id and Mt. Wages can be up to $34 per hour in Wa. There is not a job referral service, but you will be given a list of employers. The market for these jobs is good.

LOL Lots of assignments where you will be standing in a 3x3 (9 square foot box) for hours on end.
Hope the military did not ruin your back for it, like it did for mine.

I have flagging gear I am no longer in need of, I can part with it cheaply, if you decide to go that way.
(18" storm paddle, 24" full paddle, and if I can find it, my exo-lite night-flagging vest)

Jim Beal update

Jim has had a rough couple of days, he spent Sunday night and is again spending Monday night in the hospital. It is all related to his heart, but things are settling down and he looks to be going home tomorrow.

Must be the season for it. I'm headed to spokane next week for my grandmother's open heart surgery. I'm sure he's hanging in there, my thoughts are with him.

Cayenne pepper, cinnamon bark powder, and raw honey in equal parts. It might help him feel better.

The Cayenne pepper seems to help stop heart attacks in their tracks.

Since this isn't so much open carry related as it's pierce county related, I'll post it here instead of a whole new topic. This for anyone who hasn't read through the code.

Pierce county code 9.32.020 has a prohibition on the possession of silencers and.... and... shotguns...

The code is in a PDF file that won't allow me to copy and paste so I can't post the exact wording. I even had to reread the code like 4 times to make sure I read it right when I saw it was illegal to possess a shotgun...
