I've been in MD for 4.5 days. Here in the land of "no carry" it's sort of hard to get used to.
My daughters live in Olney and Baltimore. My wife travels back and forth to MD for a job (and to help her daughter with her new grandchild!), so we have a "secondary residence" in Montgomery County.
I live in NC, and have a NC CHP. I carry all the time.
I have friends in VA, and carry whenever I go there.
I have family in WV and PA and carry when I visit them as well.
But here in the People's Republic of MD, I can't carry--not on my hip, not in my car, not anywhere but inside my house.
My pants all don't fit properly. My back actually hurts from NOT carrying. :X
I'm HYPER alert when I'm out and about--especially after dark. And today, while out shopping, my cellphone's battery died, and I felt like I needed to immediately wrap it up and get to my car so I could charge it up again. I DO NOT like being in a state where someone has arbitrarily legislated that I cannot exercise the right to OC that I have in almost 40 other states, and they do not recognize my CHP, which is recognized in 31 states.
I hope our daughters move to VA.
MD laws suck. And I mean that in the WORST possible way...
I really feel for our 2A-believing brothers and sisters who find themselves living under the tyrannical flag of the personal arms of the Calvert and Crossland families.
I pray that someday soon, our brothers and sisters from the People's Republic of Maryland will see fit to amend their own State Constitution, and include a State-level RKBA clause (which they DO NOT currently have!!!).
I hope that someday soon, the subjects of this fascist oligarchy we call Maryland will throw off the shackles of their overlords, and step up to the status of a Free and Sovereign People, like their cousins to the north (PA), south (VA), and west (WV) of them.
I hope that someday, after decades and generations of corrupt politicians, dastardly back-room conniving, and nanny-state social policies, the fine peoples of this pitiable little fiefdom will rise up, and take their fair state back from the sociopathic Fabian Socialists who have brainwashed many of the people here into believing they are safer without their RKBA, while thousands are victimized each year in their own State Capital, unable to defend against predators, criminals, thieves and thugs.
And I can't wait for this Thursday, when we'll be driving to WV to visit my family for 4 days, and I can once again excercise my lawful right to keep and bear arms...
And although I love my daughters and my sweet, innocent little granddaughter, I can't wait to get back to North Carolina, where (at least in MY neck of the woods) OC and CC are viewed as a POSITIVE activity by the People, and are deemed to be a socially responsible action by most of the local LEO's...
I can't wait to be back in a state--ANY STATE--where having the immediate ability to defending myself and my loved ones does not make me, per se, a criminal...
