There may come a time when the RKBA is restored. None of the major political parties will touch this subject, though.
There is one right-wing party, the British National Party, which promises to adopt a system which is similar to that of the Swiss...that is, an armed militia. Approx 1/2 million Swiss households contain military weapons that belong to fathers, sons and grandfathers...and daughters, too, now. The Swiss standing army comprises only 5% of the fighting force. The rest is the citizen militia.
The BNP is gaining ground, politically, not least because of its policy of immediate repatriation for our (maybe 2M-ish)illegal immigrants and its generally Patriotic stance. This next election may throw up a few surprises...not a BnP government, but perhaps a useful share of the vote.
Yes, there are quite a few armed policemen now. In cities and airports, it is not uncommon to see them with holstered pistols and with cradled sub-machine guns.
Just yesterday, I remarked on the strangeness of this. We citizens have fewer firearms than at any time since they were invented...and yet more and more policemen find the need to go armed.
Estimates vary, but there are supposed to be between 300,000 and 4 million firearms in the hands of the criminal types. The Met alone, seizes at least 100 each week...but they openly admit that illegal guns are "out of control".
At the moment, I'm investigating a legal challenge to the British government, using the Human Rights legislation. It's pretty straightforward to take a case to Europe, but I guess that the help of a lawyer would be handy. So, if you know of any pro-gun lawyers who specialise in European Human Rights legisaltion... I'm confident that I can raise a decent sum in remuneration IF we can present a reasonable case.
I should explain that European Law increasingly dominates our own Law. So, a win in Europe would pretty much compel our English Parliament to amend its own laws.
The downside of this situation is that your own Parliament becomes increasingly powerless, with the effect that your own vote becomes increasingly meaningless.We will soon have one huge Socialist Dystopia. It is very frightening.
And this is all brought about by signing Treaties, in our case, the Lisbon Treaty.It soundsso innocuous. "What harm could a Treaty do to me." Well, it'll disenfranchise you, for starters.So, watch out.
Here's the bones of my proposed argument before the European Court.
It does seem to be an argument which is irrefutable…but I guess that those legal types are very crafty and can pick holes in anything. I begin by stating the Article upon which my argument is based.
Here is Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Article 2
1. Everyone’s right to life shall be protected by law. No one shall be deprived of his life intentionally save in the execution of a sentence of a court following his conviction of a crime for which this penalty is provided by law.
2. Deprivation of life shall not be regarded as inflicted in contravention of this article when it results from the use of force which is no more than absolutely necessary:
a in defence of any person from unlawful violence;
b in order to effect a lawful arrest or to prevent the escape of a person lawfully detained;
c in action lawfully taken for the purpose of quelling a riot or insurrection.
My argument
Now, I would argue that the British Government has removed, by law, my rights to effective self-defence. It has done this by prohibiting me from carrying batons, knives, firerarms and all other offensive weapons. However, in the UK, offensive weapons are commonly carried by criminals. Further, there are an estimated 300,000 to 4 million firearms which are in the hands of criminals.
The Government has stated, via its agents (I have legal judgements to show this) that the Law and the Police must be looked to as defenders of my person.
I claim that it is impossible for the Law and the Police to defend my person. The Police are too few in number and there is overwhelming evidence of their failure (rape, murder, assault etc). The Law, whilst being effective in disarming me, bears little relevance to those criminals who are prepared to acquire and use weapons.
Further, I claim that it is my inalienable right to defend my self… and that this right is inhibited by the prohibition against my going armed in an effective manner.
Because of these factors, I claim that my Human Rights are being infringed by my Government.
