Eh, we shall see where it goes. As long as it doesn't infringe upon the right to own/purchase a certain type of firearm. If it increases the time for felony possession of a firearm, I would have to say I am for it.

Ok, let me pose this question to you.
Why in one of the murder capital cities if the nation, should a law abiding person be punished even MORE for protecting his/herself?

Just because its a law, doesn't mean its right or justified.

Even if they made it life in prison for carrying a handgun in MD, that will NEVER stop a criminal from, doing so.

I am not condoning illegal behavior, but when I lived/worked in Baltimore, I always carried concealed.
Some of the parts of Balto I had to go to were war zones and I was not putting my life in the hands of a cell phone.
I have never been in trouble before in my life, so does that mean if I were caught, I should get a felony that will haunt me for the rest of my life?

In my opnyion, by gun owners saying "If it increases the time for felony possession of a firearm, I would have to say I am for it." then we too are part of the problem we come on these sites and complain about.

One day, it may be a felony to possess ANY firearm (like in England) would you be for that as well?

Think about it friend.

Point taken but to further increase jail time for felons with firearms seems like a good idea. Note: seems. So until a bill comes out, we will see.

Sentencing increases for the gun mean zip as they are applied to run concurrently with the offense. Since the BG's get paroled early... it's meaningless. You can't legislate away 'behavior'. In what's left of Baltimore... the HS graduation rate is 34%. New business will not be attracted to that 'n old business will leave. An uneducated workforce being undesirable. The crime demographic equally undesirable. So... what's Pooky 'n Pookette to do? Street entrepreneurship florishes in that sort ofenvironment. Legality? Whussup widat?

If you can escape that hole... by all means do so w/o delay.

Amen!
Many people are hesitant to leave MD because of family and or a job.
But in my opinion, to live in a different state which grants you MUCH more personal liberty is well worth it.

There are some things I miss about MD. The Chesapeake Bay being #1, they have really nice roads and employment is easy to obtain.

But getting out of that war zone and away from overzealous police officers that treat you like a child molester just because you own LEGAL firearms is something I can do without.
In teh next few years I want to start a family and have some kids. And Maryland is NOT the place I want to raise them.
I want my wife to be able to have the legal ability to carry a handgun when she has to take them out in public. Not to mention I want my children to be raised in an area where they arent living in fear from violent crack heads walking the street around them.

When I left Maryland six years ago and moved out west to Wyoming, I didnt look back and consider it the best decision of my life thus far. Im not in Pittsburgh to finish my degree, but it is still far better living here than anywhere in Maryland IMHO.

ok, off my soap box....

I wish my parents had gone a little further north when looking for land to buy back in 1986. However we are very close to PA, neighbors don't seem to care one lick if there is 3 hours of shooting going on, andI can hunt deer and trap foxes here.

Now there was discussion a while back about when my parents retire. I urged strongly that moving to PA to a similar amount of land and a building I can use for my business, would be the wisest choice. PA does not tax retirement, you can carry, you can buy a gun in 20 minutes, and zoning isn't as strict.I WILL miss the place we are at now, been living here 20 years, except for 2 when I experimented with being in PA on my own, but it turned into a money pit for lack of enough work coming in. I DO wish I had known about OC then though, I could have been naughty and OC'd on foot out my door, avoid the school zone, and been a local nuisance LOL.

That was my situation... which I endured 'nwaffledwith for way too long. Waaaaaay too long.I'd lived here before...plus 6 other states 'n another country, but I 'belong' here in the desert. 'Prob'ly the most gun friendly state in the country overall. Freedom is a great thing. Maryland's like bein'the frog in the water... 'n the temp keeps going up. Pretty soon yer dead 'n don't realize it.

I took the step of leaving Maryland in 2004, the best move i've ever made! I have family in Johnstown, PA. and Sunbury, PA. But lived in Baltimore my whole life, at one time it was a great place to live but times have changed. BTW. I'm new to this site and glad to be here. Hope to keep informed. Hello to all!

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to Pennsylvania.
I too escaped the socialist clutches of Maryland a few years go.

Life is so much brighter when you cross the Mason Dixon, isnt it?
