As a follow up to my post from yesterday, I recievedan emailfrom Sheriff Watson ashort time ago. I replied to him and extended an invitation to an open carry dinner in the near future to him and his wife . I will also, at this time, retract my statement about doing everything I can to make sure this term is his last term. Imade a rashstatement in the heat of the moment. He is obviously an honorable man and a credit to the PSO. I extend my apologies to him for the statements I made here in anger. As for the events that happened at the Portsmouth City Council meeting in November, I wasn't part of the discussions that took place with him after the initial confrontation with the deputy. Sheriff Watson's actions, in my matter, seem to echo what was reported to have been said by him on that evening. He is a man of his word.

Mr.. XXX,I truly apologize for the inexcusable experience you had in the PSO Intake and Receiving. I can guarantee youthis will never happen again. You are right, law abiding citizens should take preference. I willsend a Deputy toyour home to take the fingerprints at your convenience. Please notify me what day and time would be best for you! You should not have to take time off again. Once again I am sorry about this incident. Sincerely, Bill Watson

Thank you Sheriff Watson!

Thank you Sheriff Watson!
Protect & Serve indeed. Congrats on finding such a great resolution. Crow is a tough bird to eat, but I'd rather eat it warm than cold.

I did extend an invitation toSheriff Watson to an OCDO dinner in the near future. I came back from lunch to find an email from him emphatically stating that he'd be honored to have dinner with us and he gave me his cell phone number. I'm going to start searching for a place to have a dinner in Portsmouth in the next week or two and invite him and his wife. ODA 226's wife is going to begin working at a restaurant in Portsmouth (Churchland) soon, when remodeling is complete. From what ODA had said, the owner has already expressed thathe is very 2A friendly. I have driven by it several times and it is coming along nicely...but, I haven't driven by it since right before the Holidays so I don't know how long it will be before it's open...it might already be for all I know. But, when I have a place, and a date, I'll post it.

That would be worth the trip to Portsmouth to participate/attend.

Good job.

Can we presume that the rest of the Sheriff's directives follow the RTLB arms theme?
What is his position on OC?
Would hate to think that this was a "one trick pony."

I do not mean to disparage him in any way - just asking the question.

Yata hey

edited to say that indeed the Sheriff is supportive.

When I invited him, I explained to him that Sheriff Diggs of York County\Poquoson had joined us for a dinnerabout amonth ago. I told him Sheriff Diggs had made himself available for questions from the attendees after dinner and would imagine Sheriff Watson would as well. I also told him he'd have to opportunity to speak to the group if he so desired. As stated by another posterin the original thread I started yesterday about how I spent my day, it was brought upthat when VCDL and OCDO showed up at the Portsmouth City Council meeting in November to Protest Mayor Holley's membership in MAIG, Sheriff Watson had expressed his support forour Rights. I wasn't a part of that conversation; but, I would say based on his actions inwhat happened to me yesterday, this is more than a one trick pony.

Kudos to both the Sheriff, and to you for eating crow. Logic is the key, but emotions are hard to suppress.

Really, you both seem to be honorable men. I hope you have the chance to have dinner together.

Edit fo' spellin'. Even I don't know what a "shrerrif" is.

I just wanted to report that true to his word, at 6:00 this evening, a Deputy showed up at my house to finger print me. The Deputy offered to finger print my wife too as she is also applying for her CHP in the next several weeks. The Deputy was an extremely nice woman, very professional. I will have my paperwork filed on Tuesday.

You only got the executive treatment. They came to you, big deal! To get the presidential treatment simply call and say some specific "keywords"and they will come pick you up and escort you to the sheriff's office for fingerprinting. A ride, free bracelets overnight accomodationsincluded. Granted the other "guests" could use some culturing but they do seem friendly/touchy-feely!

(ok so I'm bored)

Yes but just like the all inclusive resorts the staff knows they aren't getting any tips so the food & service could definitely be improved.
