Not traveling to Texas for atleast six months.

There are some of us Texas native Soldiers who need to takean exam.

Don't know any Texas CHL instructors but....

Have you thought of "bypassing" the system and getting a Utah Concealed License?

The reason I ask is that by getting the Utah license you can have over 20+ states with reciprocity. You'll have a much easier time finding a Utah instructor.

Good luck to you!

Here is a link pertaining to Utah and Texas:

This link which I cut and pasted on the bottom list what states:

http://www.driverslicense.utah.gov/bci/FAQother.html

"Although there are many states that will recognize the Utah concealed firearm permit, the State of Utah has formal reciprocity (written agreement) with the following states (Click on the name of the state for further information):

just saw an ad at one of the local gun ranges holding a Utah cc thingy, like $153 2 days. I'll look and see if I can find it. I think Poo mentioned the name on one of DERos's post.

Good point on WA CPL honored in Texas.

http://handgunlaw.us/states/washington.pdf

From the source -WA has reciprocity with the following:

http://www.atg.wa.gov/ConcealedWeapons/Reciprocity.aspx

Concealed Weapon Reciprocity

Washington concealed pistol licenses will be recognized in the following states, and concealed weapons licenses issued in the listed states will be recognized in Washington State, so long as the handgun is carried in accordance with Washington law.

Arkansas
Louisiana
Michigan
Mississippi
Missouri
North Carolina
Ohio
Oklahoma
Utah

NOTE: Handguns must be carried in accordance with the law of the state you are visiting. Be sure to check the laws of the other state before traveling there with your handgun.

As another responder has noted, the Utah Concealed Firearm Permit is honored by Texas. (Authority: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/utahagreement.pdf)

As also noted, Texas honors the Washington CPL. (Authority: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/Washingtonproc.pdf)

I recently received my Utah CFP after taking a 3ish hour class that cost $70 at the Cabela's in Post Falls, ID. The instructor offers the same class at several places on the wet side. His website is here: http://www.cfputah.com/

Took the class 10-17-09, had the permit in hand on 12-19-09.

I do know that there will be a UTAH class at the lacey Cabelas soon, and that would be benificial to me.

But the reason I wanted a Texas CHL was becuase I am a Legal resident of Texas and they waive all ranges classroom and fees to Active duty Service members.

This would also open me to approx 30 states for CC.Utah I believe covers 31.

I already have a WA. CPL to combine.
