Mayor Sheila Dixon has announced her resignation as of 4 February 2010, as part of a plea deal with the MD State Prosecutor in here current perjury case.
She was recently convicted of embezzlement in a case where she stole gift cards donated to the city for the homeless and poor families to help them during the holidays, and used them to purchase personal items and gifts of consumer electronics for her staff and family.
