I have noticed that not only online but out in the world, as far as legal gun ownership goes, there is a huge gap between the number of men vs the number of women who either own, CC, OC, or hunt. Women are stereotypically more vulnerable than a man, and men dont have a feminist movement, or anything promoting their specific gender based rights, one would assume that there should be more lawfully armed women than men. Generally the opposite is true.

Some have suggested that much of our troubles, our dire straits, stem from female suffrage and that they are innately attracted to security and not to freedom.

I'll make you an offer: I will argue and fight for all of your rights, if you will do the same for me. That is the only way freedom can work. We have to respect all rights, all the time--and strive to win the rights of the other guy as much as for ourselves.

If I am equal to another, how can I legitimately govern him without his express individual consent?

There is no human being on earth I hate so much I would actually vote to inflict government upon him.

When I took my CHP class, it was a class of 16. There 6 women in our class, ranging in age from 23 to mid-50s. The day I went to file my paperwork for my permit, of the 4 people sitting in the Sheriffs office to submit CHP applications, 2 were women. And the day I picked up my permit, of the 2 other people there to pick their permits up, one was a woman. The main contact for SCCC at my school is female, and she says that about half the members of this particular branch of SCCC are women. So at least in this part of NC, there are a fair amount of women with CHP permits.

OC, however is an entirely different thing. OC is an overt political statement, and can sometimes result in confrontations with the "authorities". I think that history has shown that women are NOT adverse to this sort of confrontation--look at all the women who participate in anti-war protests, G-20 summits, and environmental causes.

But there is such a stigma attached to firearms for many women that it makes our "cause" the sort of thing many women don't want to be identified with. This is, I think, the product of a VERY successful campaign of propaganda and social engineering that was part of the Feminist movement from the beginning. The "feminist" movement was created as a part of the same system that is hell-bent on international civilian disarmament and one-world control.

Gloria Steinem was a CIA asset while she was still in college, and is a card-carrying member of the whole NWO crowd. The "feminist" movement is not now, nor was it EVER about gaining equal rights for women. It was designed and continues to be a way to establish control over a large segment of the population. It's agenda is more concerned with gun control, population reduction, destabilization of the family, and the eradication of self-sufficiency. They exist to program the women of the world to believe that the government is supposed to take care of them, and that individuals are incapable of living their lives in a responsible, moral, and meaningful way without the "gentle guiding hand" of those self-annointed elites who make up the ruling class...

I saw Steinem speak at my university last fall. It was all I could do to not stand up and start calling her out on all the lies. I counted at least 20 easily disproveable factual errors in her 45 minute lecture. It was an appalling display of shameless propaganda. The most frustrating part of it all was that almost ALL the other people in attendance cheered and clapped for her the whole time...

While I was in line to get her autograph on the program (or should I say "pogram"), there was an older couple standing behind me. They were talking about how the crime was getting so bad in NC, and how it was such a shame that people couldn't even feel safe walking around campus (or downtown) after dark anymore. I turned to them and told them "the only time I DON'T feel safe is when I'm on campus." The man looked at me like I was speaking an alien language, and said "what do you mean?". I answered that NC had an absolute, zero-tolerance ban on carrying weapons on school property, and that although I was totally law-abiding, well-trained, and state-licensed to carry a firearm, I was denied my right to defend myself because of the arbitrary nature of the law.

He looked at me again like I had sprouted two heads, and said, "why do you need to carry a gun? That's what the police are for." I told him that in this city, the average response time for a 911 call was over 10 minutes. I told him that last year, this campus had over a half-dozen sexual assaults, over two dozen assaults, and close to 50 instances of theft or robbery. And the city's crime rate was about 10 times higher than that. I told him that I had a wife and two wonderful daughters who I loved, and who loved me, and I didn't think it was responsible to walk about in a city with that much crime WITHOUT exercising my legal ability and HUMAN RIGHT to self-defense.

He retorted with "but the police are there to protect you". To which I retorted that the SCOTUS has, in fact ruled in at least 3 separate cases in the last few decades that, in fact, the police are under no legal obligation to provide personal safety for individual citizens. They are law ENFORCEMENT officers--it is their job to ENFORCE laws AFTER they believe they have been broken.

I further explained that self-defense was a natural human right, like voting, or free speech or being secure in one's person against illegal search and seizure.

I asked him if he thought an armed mugger would stand around and wait for the police to arrive while he was dialing 911 in some dark parking lot?

I asked him what is was that he thought made a police officer, who usually doesn't have more than a 2-year degree and only has to qualify with his firearm once a year, more qualified to carry a firearm than someone like me, who had worked for the Department of Justice for over 10 years, had close to 100 hours of formal firearms training, practices nearly every week with my firearms, has a Bachelor's degree (and pursuing a Masters), an IQ approaching 150, and the second highest MAT score in the history of this University?

He said, "well, it's their JOB"... To which I replied, "yes, and MY job is to be a good husband, father, and grandfather. And I can't very well do that if some thug shoots or stabs me on 4th street after dark because he wanted to steal my laptop, could I?..."

    Crickets...

I offered to give him the name of a good CHP instructor in the area, in case he wanted to be a responsible citizen too.

All I got was blank stares. This guy was SO brainwashed that he simply couldn't process was I was saying.

But I bet he clapped for Ms.Steinem's lecture.

The funny thing was that I think I actually got through to his wife a little...

So the point of this long post is this:

If we want to appeal to women, we aren't going to sell most females with the "freedom" line, or the "Constitution" thread, and ESPECIALLY not with the sheepdog attitude.

Women will respond to the 2A movement when we move our focus on the factors of the social responsibility of carrying, the protection of the family aspect, and the "community safety" angle. Work the same issues that the "lefties" use for their agenda--that's what womenwill respond to. Socialization often makes the female psyche more responsive to issued revolving around nurture, community, security, and teamwork. When they start to see that carrying (OC or CC) is a vital aspect in maintaining a peaceful, safe, polite and FREE society, then maybe we'll see the numbers increase.

But as long as the 2A movement remains focused on hunting, competition shooting, and the "sheepdog" mentality, many women will continue to see firearms as phallic compensators, because that's what they've been programmed to believe. When we can show them that it's LOVE that motivates us to carry--for the safety and peace of our families and communities--and NOT because it's "tough" or "cool" or because we WANT to be sheepdogs, then maybe more women will consider carrying.

We've got a half-century of VERY effective brainwashing to break through folks. It isn't going to happen overnight.

Every now and then, a women will "wake up" on her own--because of some traumatic event close to her, or because she's just "wired" in a way that makes her immune to the social programming, or whatever, and we have a few of those on this forum. I know a few personally (not on this forum). But it's going to be a tough sell. There are generations of lies and programming to overcome with regards to women exercising the 2A for themselves...

Dude, she's ALREADY got an AR, and it's got a suppressor on it so the neighbors can't hear it...

I imagine she'd prefer the diamond at this point. And you'd pretty much have to get whatever she wanted... Remember the suppressor?...

I once used a small diamond as a front sight. that might work out.

What better to capture light to increase visibility of the front sight than to take advantage of the light gathering abilities of a diamond. Finally, a practical use for those silly little overpriced pebbles.

    Wrong answer!

Do you have clue who she really is? The oft recognized image on the OCDO home page is an occasional poster here, has sat down and had dinner with us, is happily married, a very intelligent lady who enjoys shooting and actively supports our RKBA. You do her an disservice.

While I'm on the subject - I abhor these "good ol'boy, we're jus havin' a little fun" posts. Nobody appreciates the female form more than I do, but come on guys.

What started out as a legitimate question (I think) as to where the females (spouses and gf) where, degenerated to an unfortunate level that serves no good purpose.

Women (and children too) do read this site. Wives, sister and mothers are all welcome here - in fact we should and do encourage it. Women OCing are golden to our cause. OCDO postings IMHO should never be an embarrassment to the site nor the women we whom wish share our enthusiasm for OC.

I hope my question was legitimate as it went to support the OP's original question and you pretty much answered it, Grapeshot. I also felt like commenting that she looks good, especially with her gun, I hope that doesn't make anyone (including her or her husband) feel uncomfortable, I only speak the truth. It is good to know that the pictures on this site are of real RKBA people. Thanks, I do appreciate it.

Most assuredly, the question was posed with the best of intensions. I see the traditional womens movements doing them a dis service, by generally fighting against their right to self defense, and it seems that most everywhere I go, the shooting sports are male dominated. In my CPL class there was 6 of us, only one woman, I do see women applying for their CPLs. At the ranges online, and at the stores, it seems to be a male dominated area. I would love to meet someone special who would like to take her gun to the range for a date.

Well Grapeshot wasn't the only one who saw your post and thought it was wrong. I don't agree with everything he posts but I sure agree with his position on this one.

Reread the question. He asked who the woman was on the front page of OCDO. By POSTING A LIE you were asking for a correction. You should try more research and less posting before putting out comments that may be offensive to a person who is not party to the thread, but is the face of OCDO.

Stainless, as to the answer to your question ... the girls are all over. I noticed no one posted the percentage of OCDO members who are female, but I bet it is a pretty good one.

As for the general population ... couldn't tell you, but I did some research on the CC licenses in my state and it looks like it's about 55-45 male-female ratio. The average mean age was male 45 years old and female 49 years old. This was skewed somewhat in that metro areas had more male applicants and rural areas had more female applicants.

Doug - it wasn't women's suffrage that caused the problems, it was the femme-nazi's who ran the Women's Rights Movement in the 1960's and 1970's. IMHO Gloria Steinman did more to wreck the movement than anything else.

Yes, women are supposed to get equal pay for equal work ... last I saw, we were all the way up to .74 cents on the white mans dollar.

But you also have to look at what has been beaten into women from time-immemorial ... we are the weaker sex, we need men to keep us safe, we live in a civilized society and there is no need for taking your own safety into your own hands ... you have the police, your husband, your son to protect you. It is only recently that American women have been encouraged to take their own safety into their own hands - over 100 years after Samuel Colt built the great equalizer.

In the 1970's and 1980's, when I asserted my right to have an opinion or to defend myself, I was called a bitch. Even now, the local LEOs consider me too assertive. (Small rural farming community in the Baptist Bible Belt) The only difference between then and now, is that I don't give a flying f what they think ... especially when I can outshoot most of them, I have had more of the same training they have to have just to be on the force, and I am smarter than most of them.

Doug, I would take exception to what you say, but in my experience, it is too true ... women have been brainwashed for millenia into thinking they cannot survive without the protection of a man. Also, for too long, it was true.

C'mon out guys, you are safe for now

As for why there are not any more women participating in the discussions in this forum ... well, it gets a little rough in here at times. And most women have been trained to be non-confrontational. Hey, it wasn't that long ago that weweren't allowed tohave an opinion unless our father/husband gave it to us.

While there may not be many women who OC, I assure you, there are and have been many women who CC for many decades whether it was legal or not.

Also, as was my experience in one of my pistol classes ... I was one of two women, I was at least 20 years older than most of the men, and I shot in the first of five relays, seven in each relay. The young guys really didn't talk to me very much the first two days of classroom instruction. We shot the first relay - 3 yards to 25 yards, 100 rounds. I shot a 98. When I walked out of the range, the young guns asked what I shot and I told them. They laughed. The other guys in my relay told them, "don't laugh, she can outshoot all of you." The second relay came out and they confirmed my shooting as they had seen my target and score when they entered the range. Out of 5 go-rounds, I shot 98,100,100,97,100. With my Kimber UCII .45.

Then we had the outdoor tactical pistol the next day. I LOVE to run-and-gun. By that time, I was getting a really crappy attitude from a couple of guys, one young, his uncle that was about my age. I had finally had enough, told them they were a couple of idiots and to keep away from me, then walked off. I heard the uncle say something and my SO said loud and clear, "She won't hit you, she'll just shoot you and be done with it." Nephew said something, SO said, "She's the most dangerous person you will probably ever meet, I know, I have lived with her for almost 30 years and she's the toughest person I know."

There is a lot of crappy attitude out there and we pick up on it even if it is not always evident to men. Same with walking into a gun store, or a gun show. When I first started going to gun shows locally, until the vendors got to know me, they would talk to my SO instead of me until he would tell them, "tell her, she's buying not me."

Also, for a long time, guns were a guy-thing. Like football, baseball, hockey, and basketball. The women were in the kitchen cooking, taking care of the children, the household, relegated to still being second class citizens.

Think about it, it wasn't that long ago that beating your wife was met with the attitude of 'well, she must have done something to deserve it,' or 'ya gotta do something to keep the little wife in line.'

I still find paternalistic, parochial attitudes are rampant in this society. I am lucky in that my SO encouraged me to be competent and expected me to be an equal partner in our relationship. My father wasn't quite so encouraging, but he did expect me to know certain things that were not considered traditional women's pervues. He was a closet conservative who was married to an activist conservative who pretended to be a liberal to fit in with the people she wanted to be. I learned from my father how to think critically, but not how to apply it. My SO encouraged me to start applying critical thinking.

I have gained a lot of weight this past year due to my degenerated discs at L4,5,6 ... but here's a couple of recent shots. My back is feeling better and I hope to loose the weight this year, so these are temporary

    enough embarrasment
    cheers - okboomer

WRONG ANSWER ?! who asked you ?!:what:

The OP asked where the girls where, I showed him. they are tasteful, not naked & no porn is involved, got it. geesh, but the bible down for 2 seconds.

as for your having dinner with the rather attractive married lady on the home page, does it make you feel special ?

    yattta heyyy
Well Grapeshot wasn't the only one who saw your post and thought it was wrong. I don't agree with everything he posts but I sure agree with his position on this one.

Reread the question. He asked who the woman was on the front page of OCDO. By POSTING A LIE you were asking for a correction. You should try more research and less posting before putting out comments that may be offensive to a person who is not party to the thread, but is the face of OCDO.

    Tupperware!
FAIL ! Just reread the OP it says nothing about the lady on the home page, NOTHING. get your glasses checked out. In fact I put it here in RED for you....

NO, actually it is YOU who FAIL. You were not responding to the OP as you CLAIM you were responding to a post mid thread as quoted below. So once again you have posted fraudulent information and require correction. IF you can't even remember what posts you are responding to you are going to continue to be corrected.

Like I said - TUPPERWARE! ...Thanks for Playing ..See below for the truth.

While there may not be many women who OC, I assure you, there are and have been many women who CC for many decades whether it was legal or not.
I always encourage women to carry in some (legal) mode. I have read that something like 97% of people in prison for violent crime are men. A large percentage of that crime is against women. If anyone needs to understatnd self defense it is women.

When you throw kids in the SD mix I think the phrase "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" is an understatement. I understand women in the role of nurturer and wanting to keep any danger out of their environment, but we need to reinforce that guns are "tools" that can help them achieve that goal.

okboomer, don't know where you thought women were taught to be non-confrontational but I could introduce you to my ex-wife for proof of that fallacy.

Well at least I see I am not alone. A "woman scorned" looks placid next to my wife when she gets spun up. I am VERY glad she is on my side. The rest of you are on your own.:what:
