These are pics from Sat 1-16-10 on the Las Vegas strip.

The fountain at the Paris. I'm on the right with the black and gray flannel.

I want this thread to be open to anyone that has pics of them on the strip, the strip in the background or anywhere with a Vegas landmark.

    Way cool.

    So, zero issues or problems?

Did LVMPD actually accompany or hang around?

Darn, missed it. I spend most of my time over at Nevada Shooters. Didn't know about it until Sabotage posted a pic.

    Way to go, guys!

I would have posted it Bob but it seems to many on the forum over there are anti OC.

That's the one attitude I'd like to change over there. I'm personally completely indifferent. I typically CC just to avoid the hassles that may come with it, but enjoy the freedom to OC when I'm going out shooting or the mood simply hits me.

Great pics here, I'm glad to see we finally have a positive OC story on the strip.

Besides the "thug"looking clowns. We had a couple of guys in front of the Monte Carlo that thought they were toys till we set them straight. They couldn't believe that it was legal to open carry...lol. He liked it and said he was going to get the biggest gun he could find.

None of the tourist went running away in fear like metro wants you to think.:quirky

My vote is to OC down there every other weekend, I know there are conflicting schedules we can change the times around, and do stuff in the afternoons etc. or incorporate a trip to the range.Someone should start a thread just for our meet up's.... I know that both Tim and I want everyone interested to step in and take part, so don't be shy lets keep making this cool.

That's awesome! I'm down for next time and I have a buddy I work with, who'd be interested. This is exactly what we need! I never got as much as a look OC'ing when I lived in Phoenix, it'd be great if we could get the public and LE here to be just as comfortable.

I don't do much of anything on the weekend. So I'm pretty much open. The wife on the other hand has to work a revolving corporate schedule. But that doesn't matter I can just go solo.

I'm all for it.. but you may want to check.. It's my understanding that back when Jan Laverty Jones was mayor.. they had the "Fremont Experience" declared a city park, (or something like that) so they could more effectively control access.. (like charging people to be there this past New Years...which tells me that it is NOT a "public" area...) this might mean there are "laws" that say they can stop OC.. I have no cite.. and I am sorry about that.. but just wanted to give a heads up, JIC so none of the good guys accidentally get in a spot and it works against us...

I have found nothing official that says Fremont St is a park. The City of Las Vegas park listing does not mention Fremont St:

    http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Find/p...p?id=5090#5090

I did however find a Las Vegas Sun article claiming Fremont Street Experience is a city park:

There has been some contention between the city and the American Civil Liberties Union as to whether the Fremont Street Experience area of Fremont Street is still a public space where people can engage in demonstrations and loiter indefinitely, with the most recent victory going to the ACLU. The area is officially designated as a city park but is partially owned by the neighboring casinos and administered by Fremont Street Experience LLC, which hires private security guards and books and regulates entertainment and retail. "We are mostly a marketing company, " said Conklin, "but we handle maintenance and plan all special events." According to Conklin, FSE LLC receives at least one event request each day and the most popular events are for New Year's Eve and the NFR Hodown. Many charity walks and parades start or end at the Fremont Street Experience as well.

    http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2008...et-experience/
The LVMPD Training did specifically indicate an open carry get-together on Fremont St was lawful and police could not interfere with law-abiding citizens open-carrying there. I'll go test it this weekend by myself and report back.

City ordinance 13.36.055 does prohibit the carrying of firearms in city parks, but we know that's pre-empted and no longer enforceable under State Law NRS 268.418, which the LVMPD Training seems to confirm.

If anyone can find anything official that it's a city park, I'll get back in touch with Metro to talk about this issue. And of course I'll test it out/prove it's legal myself.

    Tim
