My wife and I have been thinking of moving to California. I don't know now. I need to do some more research on CC since that's what I do most, with the heat though, I will wind up OC at times and really concerned. To defend myself while OC, I'd only be able to pistol whip someone. Where is the thinking to make OC only legal "unloaded"? What the hell good is an unloaded weapon? Most asinine thing I've ever heard of.

I lived in Palm Springs Ca. for 6 years.Really high state icome tax and sales tax. So you are double dipped on taxes from the get go.Illegals there have more rights than you do.You have really no gun rights at all.My daughter and son in law went to Frisco for a Seahawks game last year and they came back and said not a dogs chance in hell they would ever move there.I hated it!! Peoples Republic Of Kalifornia.I would reconsider personally.

California may become shall-issue in less than 1 year. Calguns.net is the best forum to find out more information on this.

I escaped the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia 18 years ago. Deros is correct HIGH taxes, no rights, nanny state. I go to kalifornia for work 3 or 4 times per year and hate every minute that I am in the state. BTW it is a feloney to import any magazine into the state if it holds more than 10 rds. You will have to register some rifles if they are on Kalifornia's assault rifle list, it goes on and on. Do what you want but I would give it some hard thinking.

Good Luck with what ever you do.

If you are as concerned about 2A as I am, you may (or may not) be aware that in CA, there is no "RTKBA" in its State Constitution. So whatever protection the citizens of CA have with respect to the RTKBA, will come only from the BoR. In CA, your 2A rights ARE NOT, AND WILL NOT be protected...

The State of WA has a RTKBA in its State Constiution, and so does Oregon.

There is no "Shall Issue" in CA when it comes to CCW, and you will not get one if you are not "special" to the Sheriff or CLEO.

As far as OCing, CGF&N says that it's not a good idea to UOC (there is no LOC) because you are still liable to get into big trouble, even though it's not illegal. There are too many variables on what can happen, even if you have a recorder and witnesses on your side. If you have at least $10,000 to put a Lawyer (and you need a good one) on retainer, then you might take that risk in CA. It would be more advisable to wait until CGF, SAF, CRPA, et all wins some cases.

McDonald v. Chicago is going to be heard, I think sometime this March, which tells me that the decision will come out in June. After that, the 9th should rule on the en banc Nordyke v. King, and then Sykes can move forward. This, from what I've learned at Calguns.net. The Lawyers who are involved in these cases are VERY optimistic about the outcome of what we will get back when it comes to our 2A rights in CA.

Erik.

Maybe Arizona would be better choice. I know we have pretty low taxes compared to Cali. If we can figure out a way to do it, we will actually wind up everwhere. My wife cant handle the grey here anymore. Since unemployed and cant make the house payment, we are thinking of loading up the motorhome and heading out. Got a lot of reading to do on other sites to see whata whata. If we do, need to find out about travel and open and I will definitly get a Utah concealed, and Oregon concealed. Most of our time will be spent on the west, and south coast. If I get my way, Summers here, and winters there. If I do wind up in Cali, thats where my highpoint would be most valuable, since I wouldnt be able to shoot and defend myself, the highpoint is sufficient in weight to knock someone out.

Arizona is almost definitely the better choice. Nevada is another. I escaped CA, and am glad about it.

Thats the scary thing, I dont speak spanish or gay, so I dont think I would fit in. I do like my rights.
OK, California sucks and all, but this part has basically nothing to do with reality.

California is far too broke to accord anybody "rights". Least of all illegals, about whom half the voting populace here feels like DEROS does. :quirky

Make no mistake, the problem with California is that it is the state most ravaged by symbiotic partisanship. It's impossible to blame one side more than the other, unless one is blinded by and inculcated with extreme, irrelevant partisan bias.

ETA: Plus, most illegals understand English better than I speak Spanish (poorly in both accounts), so I get by just fine with no Espanol. And I live in feaking SF.

I moved from Palm Springs to Las Vegas in 01 literally the weekend after 9/11.Was cool F-15's from Nellis over the city center.Anyway Las Vegas is in Clark countey wich is the only one requireing a training before getting a cpl.I didn't have one when I lived there but a buddy did.I went with him in several occasions went he bought weapons and he never had a problem.I didn't follow the gun laws as much as I do now but most of my friends there had them.OC in VEgas is picking up as well.Cost of living when I moved there was unreal.I moved into a 1200 sqr ft apt overlooking the pool in a gated complex.2 bath ,2 bedroom free washer and dryer inc. for 750 per month .On the way to work i had breakfast at this little casino near my office $1.99 steak and eggs everyday. No state income tax and they might even get rid of Reid. I actually miss sometime living there .Get used to the heat though. My ac bill was atrocious.average 109 to 113 in the summer .It would get down to the low 100's or upper 90's by about midnight. I wasn't a gambler so that was never an issue but I new many there that lost everything in the casino's.Personally I never even played a slot in my 4 years there.

Here is yours truly with a date at the MGM GRAND for our company Christmas party in 03.

Yeah my people would ask why I get the long lunch big bonusus and the company car My standard answer I'm the Boss and your not.

I used to teach classes for other businesses on how to keep unions out. That being said I took care of my people .They got the biggest bonuses, were the highest paid in the corp..For example One of my top guys and Immigrant from Mexico (legal by the way) was having some financial problems do to the ex.Me being ever so familiar with that situation I made up some phoney hours when I did his payroll and turned it into corp.He was quite surprised wen is check was about twice what he thought it would be that period.I also told the local Rental car company unless my people get free rentals on the weekends I'll take my 20,000 a month in business elswhere.I never had to many quit on me.When I left the company everyone to the man left also within 60 days.

BY the way I worked in theshops, and literally started at the bottom in 1976 .It wasn't untill about 91 I got a shot at management.People now days think they should not have to work their way up but get the big bucks right out of the gate.My daughter for example worked at McDonalds in school and after that went to work for WAMU .After a bunch of years she is the BOss lady.Branch manager .Never went to college. She has people with MA's working for her (SHE's 27).Some in their arrogance think they should be the boss because they have college. She actually sent one of these guys down the road.

All I can say is: You're welcome to come back, when you do. :)

I won't have anything to do with Kalifornia, because they think your right to defense is a moral apostasy.
