After our success on the strip, I'd like to continue this momentum and meet again soon!

We'll be meeting at Fremont Street Experience on Saturday night Jan 30 at 7PM. Let's meet on the west end (closest to the Plaza while still under the canopy) at Main & Fremont between Las Vegas Club and Golden Gate.

Park where ever you like. There's a public parking garage (which does charge a fee) on the east end at 4th & Fremont. I plan to park at Golden Gate Casino, where I can valet and immediately exit to Main St without entering the casino itself. The valet guys there are pretty cool and we should have no problems parking there. There's also on-street parking and other parking garages everywhere.

Not protesting anything, just getting together to further promote open carry. Please invite friends & family to attend, whether they OC, CC, or NC (no carry).

Feel free to cross-post this to other forums, especially USA Carry and NV Shooters.

Plenty of street vendors selling food and drinks. None of the casinos are posted that I've observed, but YMMV as far as not being asked to leave.

I'm going to print up some larger-than-normal business cards with applicable laws & rights in case any citizens are curious and ask questions, you'll be prepared to hand them something.

See you in two weeks!

Sounds good. I should be able to make it. Where did you go to get the laws and rights card your handing out or did you compile it yourself. I need to get one of those.

I'll try to have at least 100 if not more. They're about $28 per 100, so I may only be able to afford printing 200 or 300 of them. I use an indestructible card stock so that you can stick 'em in your wallet and not worry about them ripping, especially if you're handling them often. But there will be more than enough for all the OC'ers to get one, and probably a couple more to hand out if needed.

I would be interested in purchasing 100 of them to hand out to friends and family members if we can make that happen.

Please be careful and check it out, Tim. I am all for it, but as I replied on another thread about the meet ups, I THINK the area may be legally a City or county park as snuck in by an older mayor.. (why else could they charge people to enter the area on New Years eve??) I was living in another state when this happened, and I have no cite.. but there is a possibility that the area is subject to city park type rules.. I could be wrong.. and I hope I am.. but it would be wise to check to avoid getting blindsided...

Please forgive if you already KNOW I'm wrong..

and Damn I almost.. ALMOST.. wish I hadn't moved to Nye county, I'd for damn sure show up at these every chance I got.

I've never heard of the Freemont Experience being a park (City or County). How they could charge for New Years Eve???? Maybe being private property?? Not sure!!

I did look at the City and County listed parks and here are the links.

Fremont Street is definitely not private property. There is a private company that manages the lights, sound system, and marketing, but the street is most definitely public, including obviously the streets the intersect it, like Las Vegas Blvd, 4th, 3rd, Casino Center, 1st and Main.

I've checked the Clark County Assessor. The MAP for Fremont St Experience is here:

http://gisgate.co.clark.nv.us/openweb/asp/openweb.asp?getParcel=13934111064

The owner record is here:

http://tinyurl.com/yzl6uuk

The owner is "CITY OF LAS VEGAS REDEVELOPMENT and FREMONT EXPERIENCE L L C", so at the minimum, it's split ownership. And it's also considered "FR UNPARCELLED AREA;AGREEMENT;PR-980807:1934". Not to mention it's zoned "C-2" which is a general commercial district - definitely NOT a park.

Compare that to the Angel Park Golf Course, for example:

http://tinyurl.com/y8dtqju

Or Lorenzi Park

http://tinyurl.com/y9zs66q

Both fully owned by the City of Las Vegas and zoned as "C-V" which is a Civic District, applicable to most parks from what I can tell.

Hey, Tim and guys:

Here's a new video on open carrying in CA. It has the usual naysayer interviews, but it seemed to me they were far less articulate and foolish sounding than the positive ones.

http://www.mercurynews.com/top-stories/ci_14241180?nclick_check=1

The exposure continues is the main point. I have to believe a lot of people watching this news clip will talk about it and help to make sense of the whole idea.

Not only does the zoning confirm the entire area is NOT a park, but the prohibition on firearms in city parks is technically preempted. We're waiting on an official Attorney General Opinion regarding Clark County's prohibition of weapons in county parks, but since this is not a county park (or a city park for that matter) it makes no difference.

I'll be going down tonight and making myself visible. If I get arrested, the rest of you should stay away...If not, see you all next week. ;-)
