They are saying you can't go to a council meeting with a firearm?? Last tuesday didn't we all open carry at a state senate hearing and the state patrol affirmed we were within our rights.Send them the pics of that and a copy of Daves article about cease fire asking WSP to disarm us and they refused.

I think that's what Arlington was initially proposing last October, along with prohibiting firearms in alcohol-serving establishments (totally, not only in the "No minors" area). But it appears the Jan 11 workshop fixed things.

I do not know who is saying you cannot go to a council meeting armed, as it is not a listed place of being Off limits in RCW 9.41.300 and as you see they left this RCW off their list of adopting new ordinances.

Just a note that the license is required to advise you about State Preemption.

RCW 9.41.070 Concealed pistol license -- Application -- Fee -- Renewal.

"The license shall contain a description of the major differences between state and federal law and an explanation of the fact that local laws and ordinances on firearms are preempted by state law and must be consistent with state law. The application shall contain questions about the applicant's eligibility under RCW 9.41.040 to possess a pistol, the applicant's place of birth, and whether the applicant is a United States citizen. The applicant shall not be required to produce a birth certificate or other evidence of citizenship. A person who is not a citizen of the United States shall, if applicable, meet the additional requirements of RCW 9.41.173 and produce proof of compliance with RCW 9.41.173 upon application. The license may be in triplicate or in a form to be prescribed by the department of licensing."

It's stitched into the back of your shorts:shock:, right next to the one that says Fruit of the Loom:celebrate
"If I shoot all the ammo I am carrying I either won't need anymore or more won't help"

"If you refuse to stand up for others now, who will stand up for you when your time comes?"

Ordinance Adopting Revisions to AMC Title 9
Marilyn Oertle moved to postpone action on Ordinance Adopting Revisions to AMC Title 8 and Ordinance Adopting Revisions to AMC Title 9. Dick Butner seconded the motion which passed with a unanimous vote.

I see it's on the agenda again for the Feb 16 Meeting.

Not seeing Title 9 on the agenda? I've called the city for clarification of when 9 will be back before the council, no replies. I wonder if they also decided to see how Seattle came out.

    Well of-course they did! :quirky

Every city on the west side of the state was pretty much waiting to see what happened with Seattle.

Time to get out and press the issue with your neighboring cities all.

    From the city.

Thanks so much for your email regarding Title 9. Council will be reviewing Title 9 again at the February 22nd Workshop. They have some questions for Chief Sullenberger about some other sections contained in Title 9. I am hopeful that Title 9 will be placed on the March 1st Council agenda for adoption.

I have put a note on my calendar to get in touch with you on February 23rd with the results of the February 22nd Council Workshop.

    (c) RCW 9A.72.040, False swearing.

Does mean when I call some one a and there really not?

Or is it when using expletives in an orderthat they may cancel each other out or land in such afashion as to not really make any sense at all?

    Sorry about all that.........

No, I saw it when I was reading through the attachments and what not on the Arlington's meeting notes.

Section 9. Arlington Municipal Code Section 9.36.030 is amended to read as follows:
    (c) RCW 9A.72.040, False swearing.

It was an obscure line in there, and I was amused.

    Edit: to defend sanity.

If possible show up to every meeting you can on this issue, if you can go to the workshop do so. I do not know if the public can attend but I would hope so.

And make sure you are there at the Council Meeting otherwise they will do what they want with our your imput which I feel would be critical.

9.48.030 Weapons prohibited on liquor sale premises

9.48.040 Firearms prohibited in certain places; exceptions; penalty. (a)It is unlawful for any person to enter the council chambers of the city council when he or she knowingly possesses or knowingly has under his or her control a firearm

Both of these are still on the books. Did they get removed by the city since they are both preempted by the state?
