ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - St. Louis Police say a man trying to break into a north St. Louis city home had the tables turned on him and is now dead. It happened just after 4:30 a.m. Monday in the 1900 block of East College.Police on the scene say the man was trying to break into a home when the homeowner shot and killed him. There is no word on whether or not charges will be filed.

completely ridiculous that you'd even think of charging the homeowner...let alone even mentioning it. props to the homeowner and score another one for those who choose to defend their homes and property.

Not much detailed information in the text or the video...

Ridiculous to mention possible charges?

Not really. Not for a first report, anyway.

Some of these types of shootings aren't exactly squeaky clean. Sometimes the shooter makes a mistake or overreacts. See the recent story posted hereabout the Detroit homeowner who shot some guy he spotted in his backyard. Goofs like the Detroit homeowner kinda ruin it for home defenders who follow them...

The basic concept of a homeowner having the right to defend himself against a home invasion is axiomatic. Everyone here agrees with that. But the details....what actually happened?

I hope that it was a good shoot. We'll see how it turns out.

Northside, huh?

Go figure.

After reading man shot during robbery, man shot during robbery, man stabbed during robbery, two men shot during home invasion, woman killed during home invasion, man shot during robbery.....

...we finally get a homeowner that does theshooting instead.

Hopefully, there'll only be50 killings in between self defense shootings this time instead of the usual 200.
