One of the worst is in the 1985 movie "Witness" with Harrison Ford hiding out in a PA Amish community. The scene involves an elder talking to a young boy that Fords handgun is "the evil gun of the hand" and the boy should stay clear of it.

Didn't that end with Ford's use of a gun?

LOL.....Pro gun in my mind. With a sarcastic twist lol.

Exactly why regular folks in bad neighborhoods ( I lived in a few growing up) should be armed. Its the few thugs that really ruin it for everyone else. Even when it seems like everyone is a gangster it is because regular folk are to afraid to say anything because of the the thugs and those who are predisposed to judging everyone in that neighborhood.

I have to disagree with you on this one BIG TIME. How is this movie possibly anti gun? Because he used a giant 4x4 piece of timber to kick ass at the crooked casino? What would you have him do, walk in with his daddy's rifle and just murder everyone in cold blood who were unarmed? If it was anti gun he would have beaten all the bad guys with his 4x4 that he whittled into a bat during the ENTIRE movie and only the bad guys would have guns but no, when it came down to it he pulled out his shotgun and went to town killin bad guys left and right. So did his deputy, while DEFENDING the Rocks home and family. AS WELL as the father who didn't like guns but still dropped the boom down on a bad guy in order to protect his family. Maybe you have a misinformed idea of what an anti-gun movie entails but Walking Tall certainly shouldnt be among your list. In fact I would say that it should be in a PRO-gun movie list. It illustrates the power that the armed citizen has to stand up against a government and police force that has run amock and is dirty. Furthermore, it illustrates that you may not LIKE guns but it shows the necessity of having them in order to protect your family as illustrated by the Rocks father.

If you still think Standing Tall should be on your list maybe you should watch it again...or for the first time in case you just caught the trailer of it and extrapalated misinformation.

Anti-gun movie: Charlie's Angels - Only the bad guys have guns and the "angels" beat them all with their kung fu and by turning the bad guys evil weapons against them.

We would all appreciate if you could drop the ad hominem attacks andgo aftersomeone's evidence if you disagree with them instead. Its the logical and politething to do.

I think Walking Tall fits more into the grey area and a compelling argument can be made either way, although I belive it leans more pro than anti.

I'm going to have to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there.

This movie was wholly unrealistic. If I remember correctly, gets his stomach carved up and the sheriff won't do anything, the main character beats up a bunch of bad guys with a large piece of wood and THEN gets tried. To get his acquital, he has to resort to being a politician. THEN when he becomes a cop (the Sheriff) then we start to see the good guy wielding guns around. I don't quite call that pro-gun. I call that... preachy. What is it preaching, you ask? "If you want to do something, become a cop. If someone invades your home with guns THEN do what you must to protect yourself, if you have the help of a cop...." Lame

Wow. Someone in another thread implies that a judge in Washington D.C. would be less than thrilled about a pro-gun verdict, and you get down to brass tacks and demand a citation..

Yet, somone has an opinion here, and you call them an idiot.

    Where's your$#(@ing citation?

Yes. He gets his chest carved up by the casino owner/drug dealers goons. The Rock gets arrested for bringin down some 4x4 justice because the Sherriff is on the payroll of the casino/drug dealer. As for the acquital...instead of seeing it as a politician move, i see it as Jury Nullification, something that people on OCDO promote heavily when dealing with laws they think are unjust. The party you think is preachy isn't. He doesn't "become a cop" he runs for sherriff and gets elected by the people. The message here is that you can stand up against a corrupt government on the take from the bad guy and do whats right. And I don't recall people on OCDO promoting vigilantism and thats what you would have the Rock do. Take the law into his own hands and just murder the entire Sherriffs dept? In Pennsylvania when we find out a sherriff is anti gun or anti OC we try to vote him out of office...democracy in action and all. We don't murder him because of his unconstitutional and illegal acts. Quite frankly tekshogun, i find your desire to murder cops unsettling.

The message of the movie is that if the government and system is against you and is a detriment to you family and friends then you should take it down. The Rock's methods are to get the crooked sherriff voted out of office and then crackdown on the drug dealing casino owner. I know that differs from your cop killing vigilante approach but I think in the long run the Rocks method is better.

So, then you digress from your earlier point that this was a pro-gun movie?

Not at all. Pro freedom from tyranny and pro gun go hand in hand. If this was an anti gun movie the rock would have accomplished everything using movie magic with all the bad guys shooting themselves.

It probably doesn't get any worse than the movie "militia".

And about Bowling for Columbine. Mike definitely didn't do gun owners any favors, and it was sure a sloppy, misleading movie, but I didn't think that it was overwhelmingly anti gun. More like anti republican with a few dishonest stabs at gun owners here and there.

Angel and the Bad Man, a John Wayne classic.
If you think like a Statist, act like one, or back some, you've given up on freedom and have gone over to the dark side.
The easiest ex. but probably the most difficult to grasp for gun owners is that fool permission slip so many of you have, especially if you show it off with pride. You should recognize it as an embarrassment, an infringement, a travesty and an affront to a free person.

Mike More is about as anti-gun as it gets. He should be anti-eating too much, but instead, he chooses to be wrong about 2A. Bowling for Columbine is full of gutterballs:

    The American President

Fantastic movie, complete with the "America isn't easy. It's advanced citizenship." line.

And totally anti-gun. What would you expect with Michael Douglass and Annette Benning.

Lord of War. Totally anti-gun but I still love it. I just ignore the whiny parts.

The 1911 pistol remains the service pistol of choice in the eyes of those who understand the problem. Back when we audited the FBI academy in 1947, I was told that I ought not to use my pistol in their training program because it was not fair. Maybe the first thing one should demand of his sidearm is that it be unfair. Col. Jeff Cooper, GUNS & AMMO, January 2002

Anti-gun movie? Lessee... "Charlie's Angels" starring famous former preteen drunkard Drew Barrymore; who insisted that the entire script be rewritten to portray the "Angels" as weilding - not firearms - but "WALKIE TALKIES" (as the moronic spoiled brat put it). Never mind that the "walkie talkie" was a piece of equipment about the size - and about as wieldy - as an automotive fire extinguisher. Her whole point was that the "Angels" would use the "Walkie Talkies" to summon help from the police who would then come to the rescue with -- "Walkie Talkies"? -- No, GUNS!!!

The idea of course was that an example should be set that when in trouble, you should call the police who are "trained experts" in the use of firearms. This however kinda begs the question of why if you need an investigator you would call a clueless spoiled bimbo instead of a government trained professional. I guess so she could radio in for one or something.

Baltimore filmmaker John Waters (Pink Flamingoes, Hairspray, Cry Baby, Pecker to name but a few) was asked in a Playboy interview what his ultimate horror movie scene would be.. Waters replied:

"Drew Barrymore (circa ET) being chased through a cornfield by a smiling Liberace weilding a chain saw."

Just close your eyes and imagine that. Waters is a genius.

I woulld add only one detail: Let the terrified Barrymore be frantically radioing for help over the "walkie talkie". That would just be the completest thing....

No, No, No, you guys need to go back and watch the original Walking Tall which is slightly more true to the actual situation that Sheriff Buford Pusser found himself in ...

IMHO, it was a good movie and above all demonstrated the need for a willingness to be responsible for one's own safety ... by whatever means necessary.

Sorry, I'll disagree with this one. I've no problem with someone deciding to adopt a policy of submitting to violence for themselves. Not like the Amish tried to make Ford throw his gun away. And when the child found the gun, after scolding him about it, Ford unloaded it and then let him look at it.

    all those security system commercials!

how often will an ex kick in the door and then just run off cuz of an alarm?

even if...cops are 5-15minutes away when we can draw and end it in 5-15 seconds, and much more effectively than cops imo.

they are the most anti gun thing on tv i think, next to the news.

we should make one, showing the bg breaking into a home, raping a woman and killing her, even though she called police, which were 10 minutes away.

then have it show how it'd be with us.

broken in door,bg being an immediate threat....few loud bangs

bg lying dead in the hall, and 5 minutes later police show up and explain about what that bg did earlier that night to the first homeowner i mentioned, and saying the 2nd homeowner is lucky he/she was prepared to protect the family.
not a lawyer, dont take anything i say as legal advice.

Signs starring Mel Gibson of all people. A family of farmers in rural Pennsylvania locks themselves in their basement to hide from aliens and they are armed to defend themselves with...nothing...not only are there no guns in the house, apparently they don't even have a pitchfork or a broomhandle. And not just this one family; after teh alien invasion ended the news reported that people were fighting back with primitive weapons, but not firearms.

If you've ever been in a Pennsylvania farm house, you've seen more guns than some small countries have in their armies. The opening day of deer season in Penna. sounds like WWII in the woods. If aliens were invading there'd be 3 or 4 of them cleaned and dressed in each barn within two hours.

    M. Night Shyamalan has to answer for this discrepancy.
