RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -Scary moments Monday night on a GRTC bus when a man about to get on - is shot in the back. The shooter is on the run right now. Richmond police working to track him down. This happened this evening near Southside Plaza in the 4100 block of Hull Street.

The call came in just before 6 Monday night at Southside Plaza. A man had gotten onto a GRTC bus while another man came on behind him and shot him once in the back. There were several people on board at the time who saw the whole thing happen.

Police are still trying to determine if there were cameras on board the bus that could have captured the incident. Unfortunately they only have a vague description of the suspect.

"At this time we are working with the information that the witnesses gave us and some additional information. From there the detectives will do their follow up and we hopefully will have a successful apprehension," said John McRoy, Richmond Police Department

The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center where he is recovering from non life threatening injuries. Police are also trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

If you have any information that can help with the investigation you are asked to call Richmond police.
