I was hoping tha someone could possibly point me into the right direction for an attorney and understanding of the Michigan laws. my brother was arrested friday night for a CCW violation. I would like to find a good lwayer who specializes in firearms charges to represent him. anyadvise, or preferably a reference for a good attorney would be appreciated. This happened in kalamazoo county by the way. not far from, but not on campus. feel free to PM me with any questions. Thanks for any help.

They are all strong supporters of gun rights and well versed in gun laws. I would contact the one closest to home first (Kalamazoo?) and see if you feel comfortable with him or her.

With attorneys, distance really is an issue. I hate to pay my attorney to drive around :)

keep us posted. I would like to go to his arraignment. like someone else said, don't post too much info here about the case before it goes to trail. prosecutors and cops read this forum and you would not want to give them any help.

here is what the law says:

(e) To a person while transporting a pistol for a lawful purpose that is licensed by the owner or occupant of the motor vehicle in compliance with section 2 of 1927 PA 372, MCL 28.422, and the pistol is unloaded in a closed case designed for the storage of firearms in a vehicle that does not have a trunk and is not readily accessible to the occupants of the vehicle.
