So Friday the 29th I went to the mall with a friend of mine. We were planning on going out that night so she wanted an outfit. I was carrying my XD (again) with a white Polo shirt and some jeans. Went into the entrance by Eddie Bauer which I think is entrance 4. We started walking the mall counter clockwise, so taking a right after getting through the entrance.

We had walked pretty much the whole mall and went in to quite a few stores. The last store we stopped in was Deb's. We walked around the store and then there was a few shirts she had liked by the entrance of the store. So as we're looking at the shirts out of no where I turn around and see 2Lakewoodofficers and the "security" manager. I immediately put my right hand in the air and told the officer to grab my gun. He got it out of the holster and says "Let's step outside and talk, you haven't broken any laws (I was thinking "duh I wouldn't be doing it if it was illegal")and you're not in any kind of trouble.

So wewalk out of the store and into a hallway, he was like so we know that you're a bounty hunter and you carry a firearm for your own reasons, however as it being private property the mall does not want any firearms on the premises. I stated "I did not see a sign anywhere before entering the mall", he said they were there and he would show them to me. He asked if we were done shopping and if not I could take my firearm to the car and continue to shop because they didn't want us to feel as though they were throwing us out. I told him I just don't feel comfortable leaving my firearm in an unattended car to which he replied I understand. He then said "Well if you're postive you're done shopping we'll escort you to your car put your firearm in the back (SUV) and as soon as we walk away and you drive to the end of the parking lot you can get out and put it back inyour holster."

So as we're leaving my friend on my left and the 2 officers and security manager on my right, the officer that had my gun was looking at it asked if it was just the standard XD and saidthat it's a very nice gun. He also thanked for me for open carrying and not having it concealed wether I had a permit or not. It was actually kind of funny being escorted out with my gun in the officers hand and getting the parking lot and other people watching as he put it in my car and we shook hands and parted ways.

i think that its fairly well known that colorado mills is anti carry. if i wanted to test it, i'd pretty much expect the same result you got, except i am not a bounty hunter.

i hate that mall anyway.

There is a whole other issue here, which I'd rather not see on the OC carry. It has to do with people pretending to be law enforcement, carrying "bounty hunter" badges. Ever since Dog the Bounty Hunter (who can not carry a weapon, he is a convicted killer and felon) people are running around pretending to be police officer, wearing badges.

Well I don't walk around with a badge. I carry a gun because I can and dog is just an idiot

Yea no problem. Some people just don't think. I don't know why you'd carry an asp if the first place if you don't have a legitimant reason to do so.

Why would you volunteer to have your weapon removed from it's holster? Did an LEO even request that you accept being disarmed "for officer safety" before you gave up your weapon?

I just felt that it was the best thing to do being here my whole life and knowing that Lakewood officers have been known to use excessive force which I did not want to deal with

They have?

And PS. If you follow that logic- you might as well hand over your pistol to any officer- Most municipalities have had an officer use excessive force.
