Visiting Vegas for a Hockey Tournament

Okay, so my little brother plays inline hockey and has a tournament coming up in Vegas. I have read through some of the regulations and such and haven't seen anything that would limit my carry while I am there. However, I am curious as to whether or not a non-resident can get a CCW and what the legalities would be for claiming firearms at the airport baggage would be. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Non res can get a CCW. It is the same as a res. If you have no CCw from a state that we are partners with then Open Carry. Before I ever had a CCW I flew with firearms. Just leave it in the LOCKED case until you are out of the airport.

with Airports its strange with the post 9/11 laws now and there really is no standard. I saw a gentlemen leaving Las Vegas airport with a long gun but they would not allow him to have his ammo in the locked case as he was trying to check his luggage.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably just open carry, but I have been thinking about applying for my CCW in all states that I travel (PRK excluded) just so that if asked to, I can legally do so. Also, it's not a problem to carry into casino's? My brother and I were looking forward to staying on the strip (another reason I am concerned about open carry) but I don't want to push my luck...

YMMV at casinos. Concealed carry is OK with a permit. Open Carry some will kick you out. But as we've been learning the past couple of weeks, most casinos either don't care, or don't notice. I imagine unless you're causing a problem for security (i.e., another patron complained) or they're bored, you should be fine.
