Hi All..

First time posting.. sorry if this is a bit off topic.

But, my birthday is coming up in about two weeks and a few friends and I were thinking about doing some sort of fun handgun shooting activity.

We were thinking along the lines of like an IDPA or a tactical shooting class... problem is I cant find much information on anything like this.

Does anyone have a recomendations for something fun in the Northern Virginia area?

Thanks

Try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullseye_%28shooting_competition%29

Other than basic firearm safety, there's not much instruction required. All you need are a couple lanes (depending on how many people there are), a few guns, eyes/ears, and ammo.

If you really want a "class," there aren't any shortage of ranges and most of those ranges have resident instructors that offer those classes. I don't know why you're having a hard time finding one (SEG, NRA, and BRA for NOVA). What you might have a hard time finding is a class on Feb 20-21 that isn't already full.

I suggest you take the easy route and just have a bullseye competition between friends. Keeping score makes it fun. :)

:idea:And follow it up with an Open Carry lunch/dinner at your favorite restaurant.

OOOHhhhh i like this idea.... thanks!

Also, I had heard of, but didn't know about the SEG and BRA facilities. These look like a lot of fun! not much going on in February though...

Oh, I forgot to mention the targets... don't forget those. Or you could make your own from paper plates, a permanent marker, which are much cheaper.

We do a program similar to that, although we don't advertise it much. (We probably should start pushing it more, now that I think about it.We call it our "Night Out" program.

Unfortunately I'll be tied up teaching the weekend you are looking for.
