Hey guys, Sponge here. I haven't been around too much lately, but here is something "interesting" that I want to rant about, and you all are such a great audience.

Some of you may know that back in October, my apartment was robbed while I was at my lake house. They took lots of stuff, including a S&W 1911 accurized, and a little 9mm cobra. Thank God I had my python with me at the lake!

Anyhow, I get a call while I'm at work; it's a detective. I was surprised to hear from her, since I have NO faith in law enforcement whatsoever. This detective tells me that they recovered my 9. Now is where the story becomes unbelievable.

Some 19 year old punk goes up to a house party on the southside to pick up his girlfriend and his sister. The guy working the door won't let him in, so he pulls out MY gun and lets a couple go on the house. (while his sister and girlfriend are still inside BTW) The punk jumps in a car and takes off. Some good samaritan who happened to see the whole thing, jumps in his car, calls the police, and starts following the punk.

The samaritan follows the punk to an alley a few miles from the house party. The punk gets out of his car, and exchanges words with a group of people in the alley. The punk pulls out MY gun again, and lets loose on the group in the alley. The group draw their CCW and return fire.

By this time, the police are on scene, thanks to the good samaritan. The group scatters, and the punk runs, tossing my gun. The cops catch the punk and a couple of the other guys, but the police say "we didn't see him toss the gun".

The police say they have the punk's girlfriend on tape saying " I saw him with a little green gun" and they have witnesses (the doorman at the party, the samaritan), but there were no prints on the gun. They could only hold the punk for 72 hours, and my gun has to get tested for his DNA. (if you've seen the news lately, the WI DNA lab is a joke... this may take years)

Now here is the real clencher: This punk already murdered someone with a stolen gun when he was 15, and got off cause he was a juvenile! He is now out on the streets again, and probably already has another gun. Yet we have people sitting in county for PARKING TICKETS.

THE SYSTEM WORKS!

This guy has proven that he is an animal, and they still won't put him in a cage. How much damn evidence do you need? The police will lie and cheat to convict someone who is innocent, but they won't lie or cheat to convict someone who is guilty of POCS stolen firearm, and several attempted murders in one night. Not to mention the past murder he has committed.

thanks for reading the rant. I feel slightly better.

and to the good samaritan, thanks, whoever you are.... takes some real guts to go after a psycho like that

So do you get your gun back? Another reason IMHO to buy a safe. I wasn't considering it until I spoke with the guy at Fleet Farm the other day in our little city and he said his house was robbed of his guns about 10 years ago. Mess on that - I'd rather spend the $250 on the safe!

I will get it back whenever they are done with it. It will be a loooong time, but whatever, I thought it was gone forever so yea. My safe was bolted to the 2x10 under my floor with 4 inch lag bolts and they still got it up. My new safe (when I can afford one) will use some sort of concrete-anchor system.

You should by that fellow an adult beverage and an expensive cigar.

He probablysaved your bacon. If your gun had been used to kill somebody, you would not be feeling anywhere near "slightly better."

Jeez! That punk must've been serious! Look on the bright side, man. If the justice system doesn't get him, the streets eventually will. Blindly firing into crowded houses is bound to piss "the wrong guy" off at some point, then it's lights out for this idiot. Glad you'll eventually get your gun back.

Yup. In Wisconsin you can be a upstanding citizen and be convicted of a felony for accidentally encroaching into an unmarked and arbtrary school zone yet be given a slap on the wrist for murdering someone with a stolen firearm. Wisconsin firearm laws suck.

If he is a tax cheat and has ever once expressed sympathy for Islam radicals or Socialism he might end up in the administration of a certain chief executive officer.

Exactly. Thank God he didn't hurt anyone. I really just feel bad for him. Like seriously, who are these people? I can't even imagine living that type of life.

A buddy of mine used to come by all the time with treats for my pups, Mickey and Molly. He'd pet them, play a bit with them, He thought he could come into my yard or on the deck any time and they would be fine with it.

One day, I'm not at home when he drops by, the wife opens the door and Micky and Molly rush out the door before she can say a word, corner him on the deck till she calls them off.

If you've never had a pair of Shepard Wolves welcome you, you just have not lived. Something about the low pitched growl and those Lilly white incisors peaking out from curled lips. WOW!:uhoh:

My buddy went home to change and came back later in the day with a whole new respect for my two friends. :D

I gotta be honest, I could never see the appeal of an animal that will attack your friends. If I was in his shoes I would be a little apprehensive to visitin the future when that type of thing happens.

I've never fully trusted anyone. I like animals that will corner anyone my wife is not secure about. They don't corner me so all is good. They don't attack unless she or I say so. They do hold any unwanted or uninvited guest at bay till I or my wife can determine their right to breath. Stay on the outside of my fence and you're OK, venture inside at your own risk. No one should be familiar enough with your dogs to be able to command them. This fellow thought he was. Good lesson learned. Good doggies. Yup.

My Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix who went by the name of Timmy never met a hand she didn't like as long as it scratched her ears. Nobody ever heard this dog growl and rarely bark till dark thirty in the morning when a couple of drunk kids tried to break into our house, wife and kids were their but I wasn't. You would have thought he was part wolf.

The other time a man tried to get into my car in Chicago and steal my handicap sticker card. He left part of his sleeve in the car and the card was on the floorboard, it was easy to piece together what happened. If it had been a kid he could have stripped the car and Timmy would have gladly gone with him just to get a ride. An adult trespasser when I wasn't there was in deep doo-doo. That is the epitome of a good watch dog.

Now my black lab/German shepherd mix called Smokey was another animal all together. He also never met man, woman or child that he didn't like. It didn't matter what he, she or they did he was okay by that. Good companion but not so good as watchdog.

I miss Timmy more than you can believe.
