    Greetings

I lived in NC up until '96 when work and school forced a move to NY. Knowing the difficulty in getting a pistol license in NY I left my pistol with a friend. This week I finally jumped thru the appropriate number of hoops in NY to get a sportsman's pistol license.

I would like to take possession of my pistiolfrom NC. I will need the pistol to enter NY via an FFL dealer so it may be properly recorded on my license.

Can anyone explain to me the process I will have to undertake to get the accomplished?

    Thanks.

I believe you have to receive from a FFL sender, but I could be wrong.

The minimum is that you need to have your friend ship the pistol to your local FFL and then you can get it from them.
The max is that you need to have your friend use an FFL send it to your FFL, and then you can get it from them.

Being a pistol and shipping it to NY I would ship from one FFL to another one. I don't think you can go wrong doing it that way. Have your friend use a trusted gun shop in his area. Or tell us where he is and someone could recommend one. Sucks to have to ask permission and pay for your rights.

+1 to that. That is what happens when you live in the people's republic of NY. The only state I know where state laws are null and void in the city. I guess that is why they don't understand the 2nd amendment (being that it is federal, it trumps state and local law IMHO).

What part of "shall not be infringed" don't they understand?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to get started on finding an FFL willing to help me out.
