My friend and I are currently in the process of getting our CCDW in Kentucky and will be travelling to Florida on vacation in a few months. We are wondering if the state of Florida recognizes other states CCDW's.

KUDOS! That was very handy and I appreciate the propmtness. I had been told by an attorney friend that Florida did honour the Kentucky CCDW, I just wanted to verify this directly. It was interesting where it mentioned Nevada as well because that was supposed to have been a second vacation trip later in the year but now we're looking at other location. A state that doesn't honour our permit, shouldn't be honoured by ours. It's great to see that Florida is now refusing Nevada's permits. Hopefully that will get their attention and they will reverse their decision.

Once again, thank you for your assistance.

I have to respectfully disagree. All that does is escalate the ******* match. A state should at the very least recognize the permit from any state whose requirements are equal or higher than their own, but ideally, all states should honor every other states permits.

Article IV. Section 1. Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the Public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State; And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

Well, I agree with you on principle, states should honour one anothers CC permits. Unfortunately, Nevada doesn't see it quite that way. To obtain a CC permit in the state of Nevada, you have to just do the latter half of what is required in the state of Kentucky.

Don't get me started on Nevada. By "law" they should honor Utah's permit, but they leave it up to the Sheriffs and Police Chiefs Association to set their training standards and decide which states meet the requirements.
