MIAC--who's side are they on, anyway?

After all the hooplah about the Feb, 2009 MIAC report on "domestic terrorism" that branded Ron Paul and Bob Barr supporters, people with Gadsdon flag bumper stickers, returning veterans, and 2A activists as potential domestic terrorists, many of us started to think that MIAC (The Missouri Information Analysis Center), a regional arm of the Department of Homeland Security, might not be on the side of the American Public. Their report caused so much controversy and outrage among the American Public that they officially rescinded it.

However, being the ever-vigilant research geek that I am, I still visit the MIAC website now and then, just to see what they are up to.

They have just issued a new "Open Source Document" about personal home security, detailing how to defend yourself against violent home-invasion type attacks.

http://www.miacx.org/documentdownload.aspx?documentid=905&getdocnum=1

When I downloaded it, I expected to read a tract saying how we should run and hide, and dial 911 and then hope and pray that the police arrive before the BGs can rape, pillage and murder my family.

Imagine my shock and surprise when I discovered that this recent MIAC white paper was filled with quotations like this:

IF WE WANT TO PROTECT OUR FAMILIES AND OURSELVES FROM DESPICABLE ACTS BY WOLVES
WE MUST ACCEPT THAT IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BECOME SHEEPDOGS.

and then goes on for 26 pages to discuss topics with titles like "Selecting a Firearm", "Field of Fire", and "Situational Awareness"...

This new MIAC report reads more like an article posted on OCDO than the previously issued (and more widely pubicized) "Domestic Terrorist report that demonized people that most of us would consider Law Abidig and patriotic citizens. This new report reads more like the latest Massad Ayoob book than the fear-mongering Fabian Socialist double-speak ranting of the Feb '09 report.

So, last year, they were saying that most of the people on this forum were domestic terrorists. But now, they are issuing reports that read like they were directly plagiarized from posts on this forum...

Whose side are these folks on? It's getting harder and harder to tell.

But one thing is becoming evident--something about MIAC just doesn't pass the "sniff test"...

Yeah, I realized that after I posted.

It looks like this report was independently written and published, and MIAC is just distributing it as and "Open Source Document".

It would be my interpretation that their distribution of this report constitutes endorsement. But it's so 180 degrees opposite from the "official" reports they tend to release that it just had me scratching my head and wondering just what ARE they up to whith putting this paper on their website...
