Here's a poll in one of the Seattle newspapers.

Guns at Starbucks? Thousands say no

I didn't see this link on here. Apologies if it is a repost.

So the Brady Bunch gathered 25000 signatures on a petitionpersuade Starbucks into banning firearms.

The poll in this article shows the following percentages at 0100 MT 2/13:

Should Starbucks ban guns in its stores?

    6.9%

Absolutely. They have no business being there.

    87.6%

No. People should have the right to carry them

    5.5%

Gun rights debates belong in courtrooms, not coffee shops

    Total Votes: 3924

OK, so it would seem that the 6.9% crowd would represent the 25K so-called signatures.

Using that logic (or lack thereof), the 87.6% pro-gun crowd would represent, oh 12 times that figure? Am I in the ballpark or should I refrain from mathematical thinking at 0100?

Guns at Starbucks? Thousands say no

Thousands eh? 6% of 4634 is 278. This claim of "thousands say no" is about as accurate as the Brady bunch claiming that they had 25,000 signatures on it's petetion to Starbucks to not allow guns on Starbuck's premises. The BB, as usual, posted no links to support their claim.

    6.0%

Absolutely. They have no business being there.

    89.3%

No. People should have the right to carry them

Well, if those 25K "No gunsat Starbucks" petition signersare legit, if all of them hit that Starbucks poll it'd turn against us big-time in a real hurry!

So maybe they don't KNOW about the poll yet?

Did you notice the poll questionnaire is skewed to put a positive spin on #1, "absolutely"

YEP, and when you look at the poll it looks like the 89+% is actually the response to the first question. I had to look really carefully to be sure which one was which.

Same thing with opinion polls that are quoted all the time by the media ... the Gallup poll and others can be skewed by how they word the questions.

If you appreciate Starbucks not prohibiting self-defense and have a Facebook account, might I suggest you become a fan of theirs and maybe post a comment? http://www.facebook.com/Starbucks

Starbuck's answer is always the best. They follow the law, they are not law enforcement.

The video that went with the article actually seemed to present both sides fairly evenly.
