Some towns in Pennsylvania ignore the pre-emption ban on local gun control laws Besides Hatboro there is also Swarthmore.
Hatboro Mayor Norm Hawkes proposed a lost or stolen handgun ordinance to borough council Monday night that he said would help keep firearms out of the hands of criminals.

If adopted, the ordinance would require citizens to report their lost or stolen handguns to the police up to 72 hours after discovery.

Anyone who violates the ordinance would be subject to a fine of no more than $1,000, or imprisonment for not more than 90 days, or both, reads the draft ordinance.

Council will vote at its meeting Feb. 22 if it will advertise the ordinance for a future vote. . . .

Personally, with all that static, I'd rather you not carry anyway! :)
.. and please, don't show up to the NRA convention, I might end up shooting you and trying to hang you on my wall as a trophy.

Well, this leaves me out.

Seriously, I've got this picture in my head of a kangaroo carrying a gun that is somewhat amusing. Crocodile Dundee anyone?

Perhaps the "weird" part is that after being banned by these clearly anti-OC "Furries," who have different views re: carrying,I-K still wants to be reinstated with them. :?

Now THAT is insane...yes?

Maybe it's time for I-K to forget them, move on and start his own "Furries" sothey can OC -- wearing "cartoon-type gunbelts/holsters/guns" to their events -- and speak on the 2nd Amedment/RKBA? Or wouldhe besuedby the original Furries (Anthrocon) for copyright infrignement/intellectual property theft of the "Furry" concept?

Thesaga continues...

Dang. I guess you don't really have any recourse other than the mass email you are requesting. If it isn't illegal to do in public, but the convention is considered private property - much like what happens during a certain republican round up here in VA, there isn't much else you can do is there?
I'll be protesting in full fursuit, open carrying, wearing a uniform jacket(no pants), and beret. I'm trying to make it a "people don't mind and will even take photos with me" protest, not a shock and awe protest.

Thats cool. Nothing wrong with that.

So is there a large population of furry enthusiast in western PA or something?
I just moved here and have only seen a few girls walking around with the furry ears.
Western PA has one of the higher populations of furries compared to other places. There are many furries in Phoenix - AZ, Orlando - FL, Bay Area - CA, Seattle - WA, Philadelphia - PA, among other "larger" and diverse areas.

I don't have enough experience with Pittsburgh furries to understand the newer ones who wear ears and a tail. There are some which wear ears and tails to schools around Alaska which I'm aware, and they're accepted as "normal." Wearing ears and a tail is definitely not me. I prefer full immersion in to my imagination.

Do you want the truth or the pseudo cute explanation what goes on at a furry convention? :D

While partying and stuff goes on at the convention, the majority of the people there are going in the interest to meet new friends, have fun and perhaps go on some group outings. Despite what you may have seen on CSI, it's not a bunch of fursuiters going for sex.
Well, I don't watch CSI so I had no preconeptions of what your answer would be. I think I would roll as Chewbaka if I was going. Is that already taken?

 The fandom can always use more furry beasts.

Here's a video of the Pittsburgh furry convention.

It looks like the guy who sent you the anti-OC email is actually a real life doctor who is also a furry.

Dr. Conway has a position as a chemist, of what type I'm not sure.

Pace,

You must know where all the drama is located. Softpaws was flamed by furries over that cover. Softpaw magazine generally has the sense to not put cubs like that on the front cover.

What are you trying to get at btw? Furry does not equate to pedophiles nor bestiality.

If you want to compare stereotypes, how about how gun owners all want to go on a killing spree? Yeah works both ways when you get in to the stereotypes. Just like how the Pittsburgh cop shooter was a member of PAFOA which frequented the forum. There are those who commit criminal acts in any culture.

There is a huge difference. A large majority of the furry population is involved in an alternative lifestyle, some of them advocating sex with animals.

The percentage of unmarried, adult men in this community is staggering and overwhelming. It matches the pedophilia community and I believe its just one of many ways of perverts getting off.
Well :) Maybe they're unmarried because they're gay? Did you happen to look at civil unions and states which don't allow either?

The furries which do advocate sex with animals are harshly acted upon by the furry community. You think bringing up bestiality is taboo in normal social situations, mentioning bestiality is more like walking up to someone and groping their crotch in reference to the type of reaction you'll receive.

I apologize for being offensive towards you, I understand that this is a lifestyle that you choose to be a part of and I should be a little bit more compassionate and less judgmental.

I do not understand the attraction of dressing up like animals, but if this is something you wish to do, this is your prerogative. You seem confident in your decision, and I will respect that. I do not necessarily agree with this lifestyle choice, for a variety of reasons, but this is not the correct place for me to voice my opinions on that.

Again, my apologies.

Best,

At any event titled as a *con, any lack of sex taking place in the reserved block of rooms is almost certainly not due to lack of desire by the participants. :celebrate

Wow, Heir Doktor sure hates true freedom of expression. I can see censoring fursuits with very noticable and large genitalia to the point of becoming furry porn, or furries waving real unsheathed swords around, but OCing? What if your "inner furry" or totem animal is an OCer? This also excludes ALL tricksters, since the main point of a trickster is to be goofy, be different, and to give the staus quo a big birdy finger.I saw ALOT of foxes in the parade of furries video I also watched. In some cultures the fox is a trickster. I also saw a few suspect coyotes, and due to Wile E Coyote, this trickster animal is the most famous. In fact Coyote is generally an anthro, he is half man and half coyote looking, ie werecoyote. And Coyote is reviled so harshly in the 4 legged form, that he really does need to be OCing! LOL

and Coyote doesn't call 911...
