So, I recently acquired a wonderful new job that allows me to be home every night, however, I work like, second and a half shift (6pm to 3am) so I have been on a sleep cycle, leaving the bar tonight (zero drinks) and I stopped at my new late night hangout at 0200 exactly. Mega Coney Island on Corunna and Linden Roads.

I have been going here nearly every night after work for about 2 weeks now, and all the waitresses know me pretty well.

Well tonight, George, the owner came in, as it was my first time being there while he was. He almost instantly noticed I was carrying, however he continued to make some rounds, walking in front of me (through the island) and behind me (down the isle) I could tell he was a little apprehensive about me being there, and he took a seat about two stools down from me. After I noticed the girls doing more work than usual, and being extra nice to this guy, I said "Hey man, this your joint?"

He replied "Yes, it is" and we engaged in some casual conversation, I assume when he no longer precieved me as a real threat, he asked me "What you carrying there?" I told him it was my 40 caliber Glock 40, and getting the response "Jesus" I've become accustomed to, I told him about his legal right to carry, and gave him one of the business cards I received in the mail. He was really cool and he told me that the girls told him that I've been coming in there very often and that I am pretty nice. I complimented his business and we shot the shit for nearly an hour.

THEN, another guy with face piercings, a devery beard, and a hoodie (I instantly sterotyped the guy as a biker) He approached me pretty aggressively, and asked me "Do you have a CPL?" I told him of course, but you actually don't need one to carry openly like I am. He told me I had to cover it up. (He was speaking to me like he was a policeman off duty, so I didn't want to be a huge asshole about it.) So after arguing about it, I simply said, "Okay, Thanks, I appreciate the information man" He kept at me, I handed him a business card as well, he didn't seem to interested, I started talking about case law.

I told him he was more than welcome to call the police, or wait until tomorrow and call the MSP in Lansing and have them clarify Michigan gun law. He told me I could not even conceal in a restaurant, Once I told him the list of places I could in fact not conceal carry, he seemed to let his guard down, I told him about brandishing was not applied to being in a holster.

Finally he admitted that I sounded educated on gun laws, and I told him "Yeah man, I defiantly researched this a lot before I decided to carry, I don't want to lose my right to bare arms at all, I'm not only sticking up for my second amendment right, but yours, and everyone else's."

He finally apologized for approaching me so aggressively, he just didn't "know what I was up to" I accepted his apology and he shook my hand, and told me he wants to carry his in the open also. I actually hope he shows up on the forums.

I gave him a pamphlet also before I left. I shook the owners hand and he said he was pleased to meet me.

This was one of the most exciting dinners I've had in a while, I was really glad I got the chance to talk with people about it on this scale. I also told both of the guys I carry my gun in the open because I welcome conversation and questions about it.

So, what do you guys think of this encounter?

Well done to you sir.

I live on the west side of the state but recently drove past that coney island while visiting some friends over there, next time I'll be sure to patronize their restaurant.

Woot Woot, i love having those days.
When pumping gas today a guy at another pump was eyeballing me so i decided to strike up friendly conversation, rather than give a response he said, what's up with the gun. i simply said its my right to carry as well as it was his, handed him a card and seemed OC friendly. he said i just didn't look like a cop :D LOL

P.S. Devery beard,

That's the new Glock Over&Undercoming out next year. It's a 20mm over a 40 S&W, Hi-Capacity,night sights with Match Grade Barrels. Due tomag capacity, they will not be legal in California, except for Law Enforcement.
