There is usually a good sense of community here at OCDO, so I think it's only natural to occasionally think about buying, selling or trading goods here among the friendly.

However, there are several practical matters which do get in the way.

Handguns can only be transferred across state lines through a FFL. Even in-state transfers have all kinds of different rules, depending on which state. To be a respectable site that facilitates these sorts of things, one must monitor the messages to ensure that for the most part nobody is breaking any laws, and that would take time, which I strongly suspect that Mike and John would rather devote to OC issues.

Plus there are plenty of other sites that do have classifieds. Sure, we don't know those folks as well, but they are probably bigger, and offer more selection than you would probably find here anyway.

Here are a few:

http://smith-wessonforum.com/guns-sale-trade/
http://thehighroad.org/forumdisplay.php?f=22
http://thehighroad.us/forumdisplay.php?f=22

If you're in Virginia, or want to convince someone in Virginia to ship to your FFL:

http://vaguntrader.com/

There may be other state-specific sites, but I don't know them.

I am not currently looking to buy a gun, but in the past when I have been, I regularly visited all these sites. One thing I discovered was that most sellers knew about more than one of these sites, as there were often duplicate posts, and sometimes on all of them.

Good luck!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not sure we need a sticky for this.

Folks in the WA state forums here have posted firearms (long-arms and handguns both) for sale in the state forum before as a normal thread. When the item is sold the OP just edits his first post to say "SOLD" and then the thread goes dormant.

I think having a sticky would make it more difficult to keep track of the sales, since you'd have multiple sales going on in the same thread.

In other words, why not just use the existing state forums and post something like Topic: FS: SA 1911 Govt 5" and then in the thread post a picture, give a description and an asking price. When it's sold, just edit the post to say "SOLD" and delete the picture and the information.
