Guns now permitted in national parks

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- A new law that permits guns in U.S. national parks will be celebrated with armed cookouts at Gettysburg and other parks, gun advocates said.

Under the law that took effect Monday, visitors can carry guns in any national park provided they comply with the firearms laws of the park's home state.

"Now it's a big sea of gun freedom. The idea is that the same rule that applies on Main Street will apply to the national park," said Mike Stollenwerk, co-founder of OpenCarry.org, which advocates legally carrying holstered handguns in public.
