Wisconsin Capitol Police are asking those who work in the state Capitol to be on alert for anyone carrying firearms openly on Monday.

The concern comes in the wake of posting on Facebook which mentions Monday as "National Gun Control Protest Day."

Signs posted at the entrances of the building say in all capital letters, "No Firearms Allowed." Another sign says that state law prohibits bringing firearms into public buildings, including the Capitol, and anyone who dies could face a fine of up to $1,000.

The Web site for the national protest does say if state law prohibits carrying guns in the Capitol, those laws should be followed.

Moral of the story, don't die! You wouldn't want to face that thousand dollar fine on top of all the other inconvenience! :P

When in danger you can dial 911 and hope for the police to arrive a few minutes later armed with guns.

I don't think that was a slip up. In fact that's the latest tax to be voted on today. Bill 745.88 - $1,000 Tax (bounty) on 2nd Amendment Supporters.

    I didn't die, do I get $1,000?

How does this work, if I do die do I get my account sent to a collection agency if I don't pay up?

I'm just a simple country boy and I don't understand all this legalese talk.

we don't need people suggesting engaging in illegal acts, cause sure as hell, they'll claim to be an open carrier, and trash our reputations. putting the cops on a heightened state of alert will surely make it harder for the open carriers in the madison area just to go about their business in the other areas around the capitol, public areas, where there should be no restrictions.
