As far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as private conversation. That means engaging in talk with a LEO or even the PM system on this site is automatic consensual recording.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280466339282 $37 buy it now with free shipping

There are 5 left from a seller in the US. This is the same recorder as the above 4gb... except it's an 8gig. The battery time isn't all that great, but I figure a couple hours is good enough and you only lose a 1/2hr compared with the 4gig. I carry a USB charger anyway, so the video record time is more important and easier than getting to a computer to erase the data.

Just thought I'd throw another option out there!

great post M1

edit to add: make sure you check all the specs and decide what's best for you

I'd be glad to. I'm sure I'm going to run it through the ringer with all types of different conditions.

Personally, I've been using the Olympus VN-4100PC

23+ hrs of audio recording on fresh batteries, high Quality recording, USB capable, internal or external mic.

If anyone gets the one with sound from Heartland or see's a better deal on them, lets us know. I think the pen cam w/audio and rechargable batt is good deal.

This is the same as i'm getting in the 8gig. Did a lot of research and it seems the battery life is 2 1/2 hours. If you want I will bring it to a meet with my laptop so you can check it out and see what you think. Like I said, I plan on doing some tests.

edit to add: sorry, my phone went full auto for this post. Delete please?

Where are you ordering from? I've been looking at a few sights and qualities, from 26.95 to 88.95 for 8 gig and expandable.

Just a head's up... Using the basic description from the item that Aryk45XD found pops up a number of other vendors on eBay selling (what appears to be) the same thing for _less_ (though they're shipping from outside the US). ref:
http://bit.ly/a5mquG

There's a BIN there for $24.98.
