Advice on registering handguns from out of state

Hi folks, just moved to Mass last year and I've recieved my Class A LTC permit. I brought two of my handguns with me from out of state, and they were part of my household goods that I transported with me. Now the safety course instructor said that if I purchased the handgun from out of state then i don't need to register it in Massachusetts. He said he was told this by the police chief of my town police dept. Just wondering if anyone can verify this for me.

You do not have to "declare" anything that you brought with you, But anything you purchase from here on, if purchased from a Firearms Dealer paperwork will be sent by the dealer to The Firearms Record Bureau. Any private purchases that you make you are supposed to file a form FA 10 with the same bureau. Why Did You Move To That State???? Everyone else is leaving.

That's what we are tracking too - when you move into mass, no need to report what guns you own that your brought in.

Mike, there has never been (and if we all stick together) never will be gun registration in the USA, anybody who tells you different is full of crap, dont listen to them, before australia, the last regime to register guns was germany in 1940 under adolph hitler, canada has been trying to do it for twenty years now and have failed because the people refuse to do it!

Sorry but, You need to read Massachusetts General Laws Chap 140. Though the Peoples Republic do not call it registration, it is. All purchases that you make "AFTER" you move into the state ARE REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED, TO THE FIREARMS RECORD BUREAU. What you BROUGHT with you does not have to be recorded.

If You can find or know a police dispatcher have them run your name through the Firearms Records Bureau and see what comes up in your name. Then tell me, that there is no registration.
