Yes sir that is my letter indeed, and I actually don't get the joke, probably because you pronounce it weird (which all of you gringos do) and it sounds like some other word, or you are referring to the gazillion nguyens???

Right now I'm circulating an op-ed written by me and Poosharker both. No takers yet, but I have gotten some nicely worded rejections... which is kind of weird since I usually never hear anything even if they run it, it just pops up in a google alert... Must be hitting anerve with the editors.

If anyone wants to help out with some letters to newspapers, we can sure use the help getting some publicity for this bill since Poosharker's letter is about the first publicity it's gotten. The more people know about it, the more likely it isto come back next year. You can find a list of Washington papers here: http://newslink.org/wanews.html Just click the links and find the info for submitting letters.

You guys are aware that back in the dark ages, well back in the 1960s anyway, you could buy and own handguns and obtain a CCW at 18 years old. Somewhere along the way the state decided to violate 18 year olds rights because no one squawked about it at the time.

Yes sir, I have yet to enter the king county courthouse building to printout the copy of rcw chapter 9 from 1993. I keep missing the opportunity because I carry extra items that would not be allowed in there....:uhoh:

I did call them to make sure they had it and they do, just gotta go in and get it.

Actually firearms are not illegal in the court house, except in the areas where court is actuallyheld. I know that most court house violate the law, but unless you bring it to their attention they will not change it.

Not talking about firearms. Talking about a knife that is 4 inches . Law says only 3 inches, but I say it makes no difference. But then again if I get stopped I am in trouble if I get a picky cop.

Would security checkpoint allow me to throw my baton and knife in a locker like how folks put their guns in, do you think?

Edited: forgot to put "locker".

I believe he was referring to the name being pronounced like Win. I have heard it pronounced like win, nwin and new yin.

Full support here. I can't pronounce your name, but I can't pronounce my last name either, so we're even. My female cousins all under 21 will be proud of this letter. They all know how to properly handle firearms and can out shoot most of the men I know.

Your letter FTN! (For the Nguyen)

I'm 20 and wish the state would let me carry. Of course, I can just go 6 miles over to the friendly State of Idaho and openly carry, but come on Washington. I hope this Bill goes through and at least gets some good publicity to help the cause.

Pretty much. To a huge percentage of white people, Nguyen sounds like "win", since we have a hard time hearing the ng sound (much less pronouncing it): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nguyen_(northern_dialect).ogg

Nguyễn (Vietnamese pronunciation:[ŋʷjə̌ˀn], Northern dialect (help·info) or Southern dialect (help·info); approximated in English as /ˈwɪn/[1][/sup][2][/sup])

Note: the English approximation of the name is "win" :)

Lies. Every gringo that has slaughtered my last name has done it by saying "new-in".

Even my cousin in new york, just adopted the nickname, they call him "new gen".

Win is pretty darn close depending on your accent. Remember, in the viet language, there are 6 different ways to say the SAME WORD. Different accents, lots of high and low voices. That's why gringos like to say "ching chong chong" to harass all the time.

Looking past names, let's think about ages and handguns for protection, how's that sound? ;)
