I have done some research on handgun laws and I have found that you can open carry at the age of 18 is this correct? And also when buying a handgun from a individual for example out of a bargin trader ,or a friend, do I have to obtain a permit to purchase to purchase the handgun? If so how are you going to carry one at the age of 18 because you have to be 21 to get a permit? Unless your parents/ or guardian buys one for you and you carry it openly that way?

I'm 20 years old,and live in N.C. trying to figure out how to legally own a handgun

Buy one from a bargin trader if i don't have to have a permit?
And is 18 the correct age you can open carry a handgun?

You have to get a permit. It might be difficult but in NC you still have to get a permit to purchase a handgun. You have to be 21 to buy from a FFL. But in your case it is a private sale you still need a permit to legally transfer the handgun.
