South Carolina: Parking Lot Bill Removed from Committee Calendar

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Please Contact the Members of the House Judiciary General Laws Sub-Committee!

The House Judiciary General Laws Sub-Committee hearing originally scheduled for 9:00 a.m. tomorrow has been changed. The hearing will still take place on Wednesday, but the time has been changed to 1.5 hours after the House adjourns for the day. Unfortunately, House Bill 3994 has been removed from the Sub-Committee's calendar.

Sponsored by State Representative Garry R. Smith (R-27), H3994 would prohibit the establishment of any rules that would forbid the storing of firearms in a locked vehicle in parking lots. This billwould protect your right to keep a firearm in your car if you choose to hunt or target shoot before or after work. H3994 would also allow an individual to keep a firearm in their vehicle for self-defense during their commute to and from work.

Please contact members of the House Judiciary General Laws Sub-Committee and respectfully urge them to support H3994 and to place it back on the calendar.Contact information can be found below.
