Information is now circulating that the Board of Firearms Permit Examiners disposed of approximately 50 cases.

The minutes when posted will tell the story.

The winds of change are beginning to blow in favor of Due Process.

My compliments to the Board for finding a way to reduce the backlog of cases

More illegally revoked permits back in the hands of the law-abiding citizens? No wonder CSP wants to abolish the BFPE and have themselves be the go-to group for appeals.

Ed, While this is Great News, This will not Prevent, Stop or allow the practice of Denial from a Police Chief that does not believe in the 2 Amendment expect for the police. This practice will continue, I do not see any change in Waterbury.

There Needs to be some sort of Repercussions towards the police dept that denies a permit for no reason. ( there is no down side to the police dept. yet the applicant must spend his time and money for no reason).

I personalty know of several people with clean records that are afraid to apply because of the Police and there condescending attitude toward
them when applying. We are treated as criminals from the moment we walk in to the PD for the Application and to get our Finger Prints taken.

Ed as much as I would love to see this change ( But How) I cannot see this turn around any time soon. (Does any one think that Chief Michael Gugliotti will change his mind or attitude, He has no skin in the game. Maybe a letter to the Mayor might get some results.

I serve on a local Zoning Board and I see this same type of action of resistance from some of the other members.

People tell me when I am at a local coffee shop how they are afraid and worry about coming to the Zoning Board for any reason. I for one have been working toward a open and fair Planning and Zoning Board with much resistance.
This is another example of action without any responsibility for action. The town pays for any mistake the Planning and Zoning makes not the Members.

Ed how can we as a group work toward change this Denial Process.

A Police Chief is not elected once there he or she is there for life. Lets all think about how we can get some sort of effective and meaningful and legal action toward a chief or mayor that denies a permit for no reason.

This same type of action happens when someone wants a class 3 ie shot barrel rifle and the Police Chief will not sigh the Application. ( this has happen in my town)
What can one do in this case?

When the McDonald v. Chicago case is released by the Supreme Court, the entire understanding of the Second Amendment may come into play.

I believe that every aspect of firearm ownership and possession will be opened up to judicial scrutiny.

I am aware of many cases pending across the country that have the ability to change the rules as we currently know them.

Keep watching this message board and others that discuss firearm related topics and you will be a witness to history regardless of how the Supreme Court rules.

For those in Connecticut, the Kuck and Goldberg cases that are awaiting a decsion by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals may change the way Connecticut must treat owners of firearms.

There is about to be a lengthy firearm related article by:

Kimberly Dvorak who writes for examiner.com.

This is the link to her webpage articles:

I would suggest that everyone visit, bookmark and follow her on the topics of the day.

What percentage of the backlog is directly related to Waterbury? Seems pretty high. Wonder if it would even be considered a "backlog" if Waterbury was respecting our rights?
